Finding You

Chapter ~~7

            “I’m fine. But I could really go for a hot cup of coffee.” I smiled at the thought of the hot liquid warming my throat as I drank it.

            “Navia Myxs aren’t allowed to drink coffee. Something in it is bad for us.” She said cautiously.

            “What?” I said shocked. “But I love coffee.” Coffee is the only thing that wakes me up in the morning. “It basically got me through high school.”

            “I’m sorry but that’s the rule. No coffee for Myxs.” That put me in a bad mood for the rest of the day.

            In combat I wasn’t allowed to do anything because the normal teacher was out. The substitute told me to sit on the sides. The week passed and it was very different from what I’d expected. The weekend passed and the next week started. Monday went by uneventfully, in all truth the whole week did, except for Thursday at lunch. I had just gotten out of the line for food when Brandon came up to me. He had a beautiful smile on his face. He’s always smiling when I see him. I almost felt like his smiles are just meant for me. His dirty blonde hair was messy, fitting his round face perfectly.

            “Hey I haven’t seen you around lately.”

            “I’ve been really busy with classes.”

            “Makes sense. Do you want to sit with me?” Oh thank god for Brandon. There wasn’t an empty table in the whole room.

            “Yeah, thanks.”

            He led me to a table, where three other people were siting. Actually they were Demons. There were two guys and a girl. The girl was a pretty brunet with long hair. The first guy was huge. He had broad shoulders and huge arms attached to them. He had curly brown hair, and a round chin. His nose was a little crooked, which made me think he’d gotten into a couple fights. The second guy, sitting on his right, was much smaller. He had light orange hair, with barely any curls. He had a perfectly straight nose and a pointed face. He is absolutely adorable. They all sat on one side of the table. Brandon sat across from them and I sat down next to him. None of them had food.

            “This is Navia” he introduced me. I tried to smile at them genuinely but it felt awkward and uncomfortable. “This is Marie,” he gestured toward the brunet, “Scott,” the muscular Demon, “and Kyle” the cute one with orange hair. They all smiled but I could see the curiosity in their eyes.

            “Brandon was right.” Scott said with a surprisingly gentle voice. He leaned forward a little and it felt like he was telling me a secret. I thought he would’ve had a much deeper voice. “You are very beautiful.” I felt my cheeks warm.

            “Thank you.”

            The Demons then began to talk about something that made no sense to me. All I could understand was that some conference was going to happen. Mostly I tuned it out with my own thoughts and ate my lunch. At first I felt weird being the only one eating but I got over it. It felt nice to be accepted by these Demons so easily. Once I finished eating, and got rid of my plate, and sat back down at the table.

            “I heard something, Kyle, which might interest you” Scott said.

            “What might that be?” Kyle said with a mocking smile. His eyes were bored.

            “Dean Ellington is leaving” he said matter-of-factly.

            “How does that interest me?” Kyle still looked indifferent, but a bit confused.
