I woke the next morning, surrounded by books. I pushed them away and peeked at my clock. It was five forty five. Ugh, I’m starving. I wonder if the dining hall is open this early. My stomach growled. I’m about to find out. I got out of bed, changed and made my way to the dining hall. As I walked down the hall I felt that I was making a lot of noise. When my shoes hit the floor it sent a small thud sound echoing down the hallway. Once out of the building I rushed across the patch between the buildings.

The morning air was chilly and the sky was dark, with no sign of the sun rising soon. I walked into the building and walked right to the door. As I got closer to the dining hall I began to hear sounds, there was surly someone in there. I opened the door so see hundreds of Demons sitting at the tables. Shock and fear paralyzed me. Every single Demon turned and looked at me. Their yellow eyes glowed in the dark of the morning. My stomach growled at me, demanding food. Slowly calculating my every move I made my way up the aisle. I noticed that none of the Demons had food in front of them. But they all did have glasses full of a dark liquid. Blood. Of course the school would provide food for the Demons as well. I filled my plate and sat down at an empty table.

“Hello Navia, may I sit with you?” Brandon said from behind me.

“Sure” I said. He sat down next to me. Brandon sat with me and kept me company while I ate. Once I was finished I told him I would see him later and went back to my dorm. In the hall that led to my room, I heard little noises. People were starting to get up. The rest of the day passed by without any problems. I went to my classes and did my homework.

The next day I wasn’t so lucky. It happened at lunch. I went there with Sara. We sat at a table along the wall when my name was shouted.

            “Navia!”

I turned around to see Tiffany fast walking towards me. I could see Zoey a few paces behind her trying to keep up. Many people- Myxs and Demons- turned to see who was yelling. They stared at Tiffany and then at Sara and me, once she had reached our table. She pulled me into an awkward hug. I’m so uncomfortable. She took a seat across from me and Sara. Zoey caught up and sat down next to me. She was breathing hard. I wonder where Ryan is. Maybe he’s with his other friends.

“Hi Sara, I didn’t know you knew Navia.” She said in a strange voice. What an odd thing to say.

            “Yeah Navia’s my new roommate.”

A chill ran up my spine. I felt someone watching at me. I turned around to see a few people looking at me. Tiffany had caught a lot of people’s attention. As I looked around the Myxs that were looking at me quickly turned their heads, but the Demons held their gaze and I was the one to look away. Ryan caught my attention as I saw him walking towards our table. He walked over and took a seat next to Tiffany.

“About time you caught up. What took you so long?” Ryan rolled his eyes.

“I walked here, you ran” he answered in a rough tone.

“Whatever” she said not paying him much attention.

“Hey Sara” he said in a softer tone. He smiled at her, and his eyes gentled. I looked at Sara. Her cheeks had turned a light pink.

“Hey” she said and quickly looked down at her food.

We all talked a little more and then we decided to leave. We left in a line going down the center aisle. For some reason I was in the front leading our group down the aisle. A Demon stepped in front of me, blocking my way. I stopped abruptly making everyone else stop and kind of slam into each other. The Demon was a couple inches taller than me. He had curly brown hair with of course yellow eyes. He stared down at me. I want Lucas here next to me. I can’t stand how similar Demon’s eyes are.
