“He doesn’t like me” Brandon pointed out matter-of-factly. He really didn’t sound like he really cared either.

“I guess not” I said distracted. I was watching the door where Ryan had left. What’s Ryan’s problem? What’s bothering him? Does he not like Demons, or is he scared of them? Brandon placed a hand on my cheek and moved my face so my eyes met his. That got my attention. “Did you say something?” I felt like I was just woken from a dream.  He dropped his hand.

“I asked how you are.” He looked confused.

“I’m fine” I said. I was on the edge wanting to know what was wrong with Ryan.

Brandon and I talked until I had to go and he walked me to my class. I walked in and found my class. I didn’t know anyone in here. It passed quickly and I went back to my dorm. Sara wasn’t there so I went into my room and lay down on my bed. I closed my eyes.

I was transported to the woods, and there were large trees everywhere. I looked around and took in the peace and quiet noises of the forest. I climbed to the top of the nearest tree. Up here I could see all the way to where the woods ended. The wind was blowing my hair around. The only sound was the birds chirping and leaves brushing against each other. It’s so peaceful up here. Without any thought or hesitation, I jumped off. Before I could fall five feet, I felt a pair of hands close around my waist.

Suddenly I was moving through the air. I’m flying. I closed my eyes and felt the wind blow through my hair. For a while I flew like that, content and care free. I opened my eyes, and looked up at who was holding me. I looked up to see Lucas with a tight grip on my waist. He had on black pants and no shirt. He had darker than night black wings flapping. They’re so beautiful. He was looking straight ahead, his mouth slightly open. I could see his fangs glistening in the light. As we flew I studied him. He looked down at me and I gasped in shock. His eyes held nothing but sadness, they were basically drowning in pain. The misery in his eyes was heart breaking.

After some time he found a place to land. We landed by the bank of a river. He set me down and stood in front of me, his body ever so close to mine. My heart ached. Seeing him so sad was bringing me to tears. I opened my mouth to say something, but before I could get a word out he pulled me into a hug. He wrapped his arms around me squeezing me tight. At first it was awkward to hug him because of the wings. But I moved my hands around them and squeezed them into the hug and our hug seemed to get even better. I clung to him, needing all of his pain to leave. Someone as gentle and as sweet as Lucas should never be that sad.

            “Navia” he whispered.

I woke up startled. Was that a dream? I guess it was. But, like the other dreams I’ve had about Lucas, it felt real. I killed some more time and then headed to my next class. Once I found my room I pushed open the door and saw Sara sitting in a desk in the middle of the room. I walked up to her.

“Sara” I said in a small voice. She looked up and smiled.

“Hey you’re in this class?” I nodded my head. “I’m glad we have a class together.”

“Me too” I said and sat down next to her.

A woman walked in. She had extremely curly light brown hair. She paid no attention to me and got right to class. At three thirty the class ended and Sara and I walked back to our dorm room. I fell asleep doing homework.
