Finding You

Chapter ~~6

            “Well don’t you look pretty!” She must be kidding. I looked at her. She looked sincere so I smiled thankfully at her.

            “Do you have a piece of paper I can use?”

            “Yeah hold on.” She rose from the couch and went into her room. After a few moments of waiting she returned with a blank piece of lined paper.

            I sat down on the couch next to Sara and quickly I wrote down some things I knew I needed to get. There was a knock at the door. I looked to Sara, silently asking her if she wanted to get it.

            “Go ahead” she said gesturing toward the door with her head. I got up and did exactly that.

            What I wasn’t expecting was the hot guy standing in front of me. He had dirty blonde hair, and golden yellow eyes. I got stuck on his eyes, and my thoughts went immediately to Lucas. But this guy’s eyes don’t seem to fit his face. They look odd on his face, where Lucas’ eyes only enhanced his beauty. I quickly pushed away those thoughts. He looked at me and smiled. My breath caught. His smile is wonderful, it’s almost like he glows when he smiles. I couldn’t look away from his smile.

            “Hi I am Brandon. I am going to be escorting you around today” he looked me straight in the eyes. Again Lucas popped into my mind. Their eyes are just so similar. Again I pushed my thoughts back, and came back to the present.

            “I’m Navia. Thanks for doing this.” I looked down at my feet. He put a finger under my chin and lifted my head so I looked him in the eyes.

            “It is my pleasure” he said in a smooth voice. Another smile lit his lips. My heart started beating double time. I stared at him and my mind seemed to shut down. I needed to say something, but I couldn’t make my lips move.

            “Shall we get going?” he held out his hand.

            “Yeah that sounds good” I took a step forward. “Wait, I need to grab something.” I spun around and rushed back into my room. I grabbed my key and five hundred of the thousand dollars. I returned to were Brandon stood.

            Then we left and headed out to town. I thought that Brandon was going to drive but when we got to the car there was a man in a black uniform leaning against the car. It was Tom, the same guy who picked me up yesterday from the airport. He saw me and gave me a little smile. He was leaning against a limo, probably the same one I arrived in. Brandon was there to literally escort me in the stores, and make sure I stayed safe. He’s like a body guard. I think that’s a little excessive, I mean I’m eighteen. I think I can stay out of trouble. But I never brought it up with Brandon. To be honest I kind of wanted his company. Plus it might offend him if I said anything.

            The day flew by and before I knew it the sun was setting and we were on our way back to the Institute. We’d been to hundreds of stores. The trunk was full of bags, and we even had to put some in the back seat with us. At first shopping with Brandon was awkward but he made me laugh and we became comfortable with each other. When we arrived back at the Institute, Tom opened the door and let us out.

            “Thank you Tom.” I said. He nodded and walked back to the front of the car.

            The trunk popped opened I saw just how much I’d bought. It was more than I remember. I grabbed a few and headed to my dorm. Brandon followed close behind with a handful of bags as well. Once we were outside my door I had the fun job of trying to open my door with both my hands full of bags. But after some fumbling, I got my key out of my pocket and somehow opened the door. Sara was on the couch, doing what looked like homework. Her eyes widened when she saw us try to maneuver all the bags inside. She got up and took some bags from each of us. I opened the door to my room and dropped all my bags, Brandon and Sara followed me in and did the same. Brandon immediately left to get the rest of the bags. Sara stood behind me trying to make a path through all the bags into my room. I stood my back to her thinking.
