“Okay.”

A sinking fear ran through me as I realized this was it. This is real, there’s no going back. This is the beginning of my new life. He took me over to the fourth building, in the very back, where all the dorms were. As we walked over to the building the Dean explained to me how the dorms worked. The girls dorms were on floors one through eight, the boys were on the floors nine through fifth teen, the teachers that live on campus live on the sixth tenth through twentieth floors, and the Demons live on the twenty first through the twenty sixth floors. The dean took me to my room so I could drop off my clothes. My room was on the sixth floor so we took the elevator that was just to the right of the front doors.

The doors opened to a hall going in both directions, with a bunch doors lining the walls. He led me to my room. The number on the door was 6SN. Dean William told me that my room was a suite that had three bedrooms in it. I was supposed to have two roommates, but one I was only going to have one. My roommate and I were allowed to do pretty much anything we wanted with the third room. I mostly nodded and listened to him. I’m getting a weird vibe from this guy. I mean he’s nice, and he’s smiling but something about him is off. I can feel it. Fear washed through me. Can I trust this guy? I really wish that Lucas was here with me.

At that moment I felt truly alone and loneliness washed through me. Thinking about Lucas made me feel worse. I pushed that aside and walked inside my dorm. Inside was nothing like what I was expected it to be. I opened the door to find what looked like a lounge area. The walls were a cream color. The back wall was shaped like a half circle. There were four doors against that same wall. Those must be the rooms. In the middle of the room there was a black couch with a coffee table in front of it. In front of that there is TV on a TV-stand. I put down my duffel bag.

            “Wow” I said astonished.

“The door, farthest on the left, is a bathroom. The door next to that is your roommate Sara’s room, and the one after that is the empty room. The last door, the one closest to us is all yours.”

I walked over to my new room. I stared at the white door, not sure if I was ready to accept that I would be living in this room from now on. Hesitantly I opened the door. It was much bigger than I expected. The walls were a light blue. In the far left, against the wall, there was a bed and next to it there was a night stand with a lamp on it. Also in the room there is a desk, another dresser, and a door next to the desk. I can’t believe that this is going to be my room.

“Are all the rooms like this?” I wondered aloud.

“All three rooms in the suite are identical. There are only two suites on each floor. The other rooms aren’t as spacious.” He stopped to look down at me and smile. “Due to your…” for the first time since I had been with him he wasn’t smiling. He looked uncomfortable and, unsure. “...your situation,” he said and cleared his throat “the institute has paid for you to go to town and buy anything you need. Clothes, accessories, appliances, etcetera.” He waved his hand around in a circle as he said this.

I know what’s going on here. I’m getting special treatment. Well I don’t want to be treated different.

            “Can you tell me something?”

“Of course, anything. Just ask.” He gave me a cheesy grin.

“Would I have normally gotten this room? Or was it because of….” I can’t say it. I just left my sentence hanging hoping he’d understand. I saw the realization of my meaning  in his eyes.
