“If I’m going to learn this stuff why can’t you just tell me?”

“It is not my place to tell you.” He looked frustrated. “We can talk more tomorrow. Go to sleep. I know you are exhausted.”

“Will you still be here in the morning?” I asked sleepily.

“I am not going anywhere. I will always be here.” Lucas moved a little closer to me. I can just barely feel his chest against my back. Lucas draped an arm over my waist. I feel safe and protected. I closed my eyes, and yawned.

“Promise me” I said half asleep.

“What?” he asked.

“Promise me you’ll always stay by me.”

“I promise.” He whispered into my ear. I fell into a deep sleep. With Lucas next to me I felt like nothing could harm me.

I woke the next morning feeling completely refreshed. Last night I’d had the best sleep I’d gotten in months. The sun was shining through the window directly onto my face. My eyes stung from the bright light. I have always been more of a night person. Vicki was the opposite and was a morning person. Remembering Vicki brought back all of my pain and hurt. Misery and sadness washed over me. I lay there for a while, only thinking about Vicki. I remembered the birthdays we had shared together. It isn’t fair, she was taken from me. I tried to think about what I would do in the future. I have no family, and nowhere to go. I turned around to find Lucas wide awake and in my face. His eyes were gazing right into mine. As soon as he looked in my eyes I was caught. All my sadness disappeared. I knew I was sad, but I couldn’t feel it. I feel wonderful.

Lucas gently brushed my cheek with his fingers. “Good morning” he said quietly “or should I say good afternoon.” A brilliant smile lit his lips.

I looked over at the clock that hung on the wall. It was after two o’clock in the afternoon. I’ve been asleep for hours. “How long have you been awake?”

“Since ten o’clock this morning” he said sounding indifferent.

“You didn’t have to stay. It was probably boring just lying there” I said a little embarrassed.

“I did not want to wake you. You looked so peaceful, sleeping the whole day away. Besides, I promised you I would still be here in the morning. I am a Demon of my word.”

I thought back to last night. Had I asked him that? Oh crap I did. I must have sounded so pathetic. I felt my cheeks getting warm. What is wrong with me? I hid my face in his chest.

“What is upsetting you?” Lucas slid a finger under my chin, lifting my head so I looked him in the eyes. Lucas scent hit me. It was everywhere, and I was still craving more. Lucas’ eyes were smoldering. His beautiful, gentle eyes were seeing right into me. I forgot about my embarrassment and warmth spread through my body.

Lucas slowly leaned forward, and kissed me. At first he just brushed his lips against mine. His lips are even softer than they look. Then his lips began to move against mine, teasing and tempting them to open. His finger trailed along my chin and stopped at the side of my neck just under my ear. His hand rested under my ear. With his other, free, hand he pulled my hips to him. I gladly followed pressing the rest of me against him. My whole body was heating up. Something inside me was pushing me to him. I need all of him. My hand made its way to his hair and I tangled them in his hair. I pulled him toward me, needing more and more. It’s like he’s a drug and I’m addicted.

“Owww” he said into my mouth. He pulled back and looked at me shocked.

“I’m sorry” I said out of instinct. What did I do?
