Finding You

Chapter~~2

“What must I do to reassure you that I am not going anywhere?”

“Stay with me forever” I said joking.

“I will. If that is what you ask of me.” Lucas was looking at me seriously. “I will do anything you ask of me”

He can’t be serious. What do I say to him? I smiled at him. “Lucas you look tired. Did I wake you up?” I said changing the topic.

“No. That is the most sleep I have gotten in a long time.” I yawned. “It appears though that you require some more sleep.”

“No I’m fine” I said as I yawned again.

            Lucas held on to me, and stood up. He carried me to my bed and gently laid me down. Lucas was leaning over me, his face just inches from mine. He stayed there, hovering over me, staring at me. Lucas looked as though he was in a trance. He is so close and smells so good.  I could stay like this for days, and be completely content. I slightly moved my head and Lucas snapped out of it. He blinked a few times and shook his head. With that he left and sat back down in the same chair he sat in before.

“Lucas?”

“Yes.”

“Will you lye next to me?”

“Navia” he said hesitantly “maybe it is best I stay in this chair.”

“Please?” I asked trying not to sound whiney. Lucas just looked at me for a while obviously contemplating my request.

            Without a word Lucas slowly got up and stood next to the other side of the bed. He took off his leather jacket, and his sneakers. He lay down next to me very carefully, so he didn’t touch me. I became very aware of how close our bodies were and the mere inches that separated us. Something inside of me deeply wanted to close those few inches and press my body against his.

“Lucas?” I whispered. I turned around so I could look at him.

“Yes” he answered just as quietly.

“You’re a Demon, right?”

“Yes” it sounded like his voice got colder.

            I lost some of my nerve to ask him what I so desperately wanted to know. Should I ask him? Maybe it’s too personal. But I really want to know. I shouldn’t pry into Lucas’ life it’s none of my business. But what if he doesn’t?

“They told me I’m a Myx.”

“I know” he sounded a little more normal.

“How?” I asked surprised.

“Demons can tell when there is a possible mate around” he stated.

“Do you-” I lost my nerve. I suddenly got scared. I turned around so my back was facing Lucas. “Never mind.”

“Do I what?” he sounded curious.

“Forget it.”

“No go ahead, ask.”

“Do you have a mate?” I said quietly, half hoping he didn’t hear, but knowing he would.

“No I am still looking for my Myx.” I heard the smile in his voice. He was clearly pleased about something.

“How does it work? How do you know when a Myx is the right Myx? How does it feel?” I was extremely curious as to how it happened.

“I am not permitted to tell you. You will soon be enrolled in a Myx Institute. There you will learn all the answers to your questions.”
