“Wait,” I protested “is Dr. Morris alright?”

“Yes dear, he’s fine.” the red haired nurse to my right said. “He’s in the on-call room resting. Now you need to go back to your room, and rest yourself.”

“Can Lucas come with me?”

Simultaneously the three nurses looked back at Lucas.  After a moment of scrutiny they looked at each other, then back at me. “I’m not so sure that’s such a good idea” the red head said.

“Why not?”  I looked over at the nurse.

“Hon’ ya ain’t supposed to have Demon interaction dis’ early into ya’lls transformation” the nurse behind me said. “Besides, ya need ya’s rest.” She gave me another nudge forward.

“Well it’s too late, I’ve already interacted with him. So it shouldn’t be a problem.” I was starting to get annoyed with these nurses.

“That only means that you need to be away from him now. Being with a Demon before the proper time can have bad consequences” said the red head.

“Navia” Lucas’ cool voice broke through our dispute “You do need your rest, go on, I will still be here when you wake.” I just looked at him. There was a small smile on his lips and he winked at me.

Without another word from anyone the nurses pushed me back to my room. They laid me down and made sure I was comfortable. They asked me some more questions and I reluctantly answered. They eventually left me alone and as I sat there I began to truly feel how exhausted I was. I closed my eyes and let my exhaustion take me.  When I was about half asleep, I heard the door open. I opened my eyes just enough to see Lucas walk in. A smile spread across my lips. Lucas quietly slipped into my room. I started to sit up, but in an instant Lucas stood over me and pushed me down.

“Rest” he whispered. I nodded my head and Lucas crossed the room and sat in the same chair where Dr. Morris sat earlier.

I closed my eyes, relaxing in Lucas’ presence. “I’m just going to take a quick nap” I said. I immediately fell asleep.

I woke up, later scared and confused. I’d had a nightmare. I couldn’t remember what it was about except for the fire. There was fire everywhere and it took away everything. My face is wet, covered in sweat. I looked around the room. Where am I? I saw a man sitting in a chair across from me. I know him. That’s Lucas, I’m in the hospital. Lucas’ eyes were closed.  Maybe he fell asleep too. I suddenly wanted someone to sleep next to. I got out of bed, and went over to where Lucas sat. I gently sat down on his lap. I waited to see if he’d woken up. He didn’t move so I slowly lay back on his chest. I rested my head on his shoulder. His scent was everywhere. It smells dark and minty. He still hadn’t moved so I snuggled in getting comfortable. I sat there feeling completely safe.

“Так тепло” he whispered. I didn’t understand what he said, or what language he said it in.

I sat up and looked at him. Wow he’s gorgeous, everything about him is perfect. His hair looks incredibly soft and messy. I followed a strand of hair to his jaw. My eyes caught on his lips. They were light pink and looked magnificently soft. Lucas’ eyes began to slowly open.

His clear golden eyes shone down at me. “Did you have trouble sleeping?” he sounded concerned but still sleepy.

I nodded. “I don’t want to be alone.” Lucas made me feel so comfortable, like I could tell him anything.

“I keep telling you, you are not alone. I am here” he reassured me.

“I know but-” I couldn’t finish my sentence.
