My Timey whimey revelation on why nothing actually happens when you time travel:
Okay let's all realize that even though those shows, movies, and books are all totally awesome, you cannot go back in time to change the past. Explanation time. If the past was the present, and then the future becomes the present, then all of time is already planned out. That means it is already written in time that you will go to the past and do stuff, so the stuff you do is why the future is the way it is, so nothing should actually happen. :)
