Spider-Man swung around Vale until it almost turned dark. He realized, "Oh, man. It's almost curfew! I gotta get back home and pack up my things for Beacon!" Just when he was about to head home, Spider-Man saw a group of people robbing a dust shop. Then he swung down to see what was going on. Then Spider-Man sees a familiar girl with a very familiar red cloak and death scythe. Ruby Rose! Spider-Man jumps down next to her and quips, "Mind if I kick in?" Ruby's eyes went wide, "Spider-Man?" Spider-Man grinned under his mask, "That's me." A man in a bowler hat scowled, "Okayyy... get them!" A group of henchmen ran at them but Spider-Man and Ruby teamed up and fought them. One of them started shooting them but they dodged the bullets and the two took him down. The man shook his head as he said, "You were worth every cent. Truly, you were." The man looked up to face Ruby and Spider-Man as he said, "Well, Red, Spider-Man, I think we can all say it's been an eventful evening, and as much as I'd love to stick around..." Then Spider-Man's spider sense started flaring up as the man held cane up and points it like a gun. Then Spider-Man realized the cane is actually a gun! "...I'm afraid this is where we part ways," smirked the man. He shot at them but Spider-Man and Ruby jumped out of the line of fire. Once they landed, the man was gone. Spider-Man could hear sirens coming as he used his spider sense to follow the man's footsteps. He saw that the man was climbing up to a building and Spider-Man ran up the building with Ruby following him. When she made it, Ruby yelped, "Hey!" The man muttered, "Persistent." Then Spider-Man's senses flared up again as a bullhead flew up and the man climbed into it. The man turned around and taunted, "End of the line, Red!" He threw a red Dust gem at their feet and blasted it creating a huge explosion. But the explosion was stopped by a woman with a purple cape. Spider-Man could see she was using some kind of purple circle of protection. "Okay, that's impressive," said Spider-Man. "But I think Invisible Woman has competition." The woman ignores the web slinger as she used her wand to blast purple streaks at the aircraft. The man runs to the cockpit as a woman in shadow starts shooting fire at the woman wielding her wand. She blocks it, but the flame splatters behind her and glows hot with the enemy's raised hand. She backflips out of the explosion, which destroys part of the roof, and magically gathers the shards to create a large arrow, which she throws at the craft. The fiery woman shatters the arrow with several blasts, but it reforms just in time to hit the side of the jet leaning. The wreckage separates and reshapes into more arrows that encircle the jet, but the woman summons several glowing rings around herself that expand and destroy the shards. Ruby morphed her scythe into a rifle and began shooting as Spider-Man joined in as he shot spider-darts from his wrists. The woman telekinetically pushes them away and rolled out of the explosion's radius. Spider-Man quickly turned and saw a flagpole. "Time for liftoff," said Spider-Man to himself. He leaped toward the flagpole, shot a web line, and spun himself fast. Then he let go as Spider-Man shot himself fast toward the bullhead. Before he had a chance to stick himself on, Spider-Man got sprayed with a blinding chemical as he began to fall down. The bullhead got away as Spider-Man shook himself awake and webbed up a parachute. "Great," muttered Spider-Man. "The news is going to have a field day after how I messed up that job." He landed right beside the woman and Ruby as Spider-Man added, "At least things can't get any worse."

Spider-Man deadpanned, "I take it back. Things could get worse." Ruby nodded as the woman lectured them, "I hope that you both realize that your actions tonight will not be taken lightly, young lady and young man. You put yourselves and others in great danger." They were in a dark room with a table and a single light. Ruby protested, "They started it!" The woman sighed, "If it were up to me, you'd be sent home... With a pat on the back..." Ruby started smiling as the woman finished, "...And a slap on the wrist." She waved her wand and Spider-Man launched himself at the wall. He quipped, "Wave that bazooka wand somewhere else, Good Witch of the North!" The woman looked unamused and surprised as Ruby nervously giggled at the quip as the wand remained pointed at them. She relents as she said, "But... there is someone here who would like to meet you two." Spider-Man sat back down as he asked, "I wonder if we're going to meet the Wonderful Wizard of Oz?" Ruby giggled as a man in green suit holding a plate of cookies and a mug entered. "Ruby Rose... and Spider-Man," said the man. He leaned in look at Ruby and observed, "You... have silver eyes." Ruby was a little speechless as the man turned to see Spider-Man. "Are you Spider-Man, the 'wall-crawling menace'?" asked the man. Spider-Man responded, "I'm not that bad once you get to know me. Take it from my friend Tony the Tiger. He's grrrrrr-eat!" The man smiled with some amusement as the woman held up a tablet that showed footage of Ruby and Spider-Man's fighting. "So! Where did you learn to do this?" asked the man. "S-Signal Academy," replied Ruby. Spider-Man replied, "That's a trade secret." The man asked Ruby, "They taught you to use one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed?" Ruby answered, "Well, one teacher in particular." The man said, "I see." He placed the plate of cookies on the table in front of Ruby. She takes a cookie from the plate and sees no one stopping her. Then she starts chowing down the cookies. Spider-Man watched her eat as he turned to look at the man. "It's just that I've only seen one other scythe-wielder of that skill before. A dusty, old crow..." said the man. Ruby mumbled in her full mouth, "That's my uncle!" She then swallowed and said embarrassed, "Sorry. That's my Uncle Qrow! He's a teacher at Signal. I was complete garbage before he took me under his wing. And now, I'm all like— Hooowaaah! Witchaaaa!" Ruby emphasized this by doing a few karate moves and poses. Spider-Man smiled with some amusement under his mask as the man asked, "So I've noticed. And what is an adorable girl such as yourself doing at a school designed to train warriors?" Ruby answered, "Well... I want to be a Huntress." Ozpin asked, "You want to slay monsters?" Ruby answered enthusiastically, "Yeah! I only have two more years of training left at Signal! And then I'm going to apply to Beacon! You see, my sister's starting there this year, and she's trying to become a Huntress, and I'm trying to become a Huntress 'cause I wanna help people. My parents always taught us to help others, so I thought, Hey, I might as well make a career out of it! I mean the police are alright, but Huntsmen and Huntresses are just so much more romantic and exciting and cool and really, gosh, you know!" Spider-Man shrugged his shoulders as the man and woman study them. "Do you know who I am?" asked the man. Ruby replied, "You're Professor Ozpin. You're the headmaster at Beacon." Spider-Man felt a little embarrassed for not realizing sooner that he was talking to the headmaster of Beacon. Ozpin smiled, "Hello." Ruby smiled, "Nice to meet you." Spider-Man replied, "Yeah, nice to meet you, Professor." Ozpin asked, "You want to come to my school?" Ruby answered, "More than anything." Spider-Man thought, 'This would be a golden opportunity for me if only I could've changed back into Peter Parker.' Ozpin turned to him and asked, "What about you, Mr. Parker?" Spider-Man's eyes nearly bugged out as Ruby asked, "Parker as in... Peter Parker?!" Spider-Man asked, "What? How did you know?" Ozpin replied, "Mr. Fantastic says that you can keep the suit." Peter pressed a button on his forearm and the nanobots flowed back into his watch. He grinned, "Sure. I'd like to go. Funny thing, this wasn't exactly how I wanted to meet you. But hey, I can micromanage." Ozpin and the woman looked at each other. She voices her disapproval but Ozpin ignores it and smiled, "Well, okay." Peter and Ruby smiled at each other as they awaited their big day.
