Airborne jewels

Green and blue and yellow blurs,
flitter from the twisting boughs.
Wings hovering and flapping swift,
all to avoid the cat's sharp burrs.

The skies belong to the birds that fly,
their colours hovering airborne jewels.
Powdery things that behold the joy,
of spring that comes forth nigh.
