Reluctant hunters

Even though hunting is thought to be cruel,
in my claws I feel certain talent.
I kill each day for I must survive somehow.
So look out prey I'm coming to get you! I need to hunt so I can live now!
But, really, I am reluctant to cause harm,
But, really, I am reluctant to cause harm.

Now, you see this certain, ragged pelt,
In it lived a small soul of prey.
Nature permits me to slay it so I can feed myself.
But, oh dear me, I am not willing! I only kill to feed myself!
But, really, I am reluctant to cause harm,
But, really, I am reluctant to cause harm.

The years go by yet prey still runs wild,
hunting vanishes for the weak of heart.
And it's a cruel world we live in because we must hunt to survive.
However, oh my, how it is hard! But, oh my, how I don't want to take a life!
However it is necessary. It is necessary to survive.
