The desolate weed

My saffron petals are dull with grief,
my leaves droop from cruel neglect and hate.
I'm treated as a dauntless thief,
who steals the countryside and soil away.
I may be fertile and impetuous.
Always my sunset head rises amongst the green.
Other flowers may be mellifluous
but they steal the love from me.
