The tears holt. Everything gets quiet, the girl stops moving as we both look at David with shock and utter confusion. David looks at her and she closes her mouth and looks towards me waiting for me to speak.
I shake my head with no words.
"David I-" I swallow a lump
"Can we have a word.." Is all I can get out, I turn around and walk onto the other side of the attic, crossing my arms-I look to David waiting for an explanation.
"Are you Phsyco." I ask without making it a question, I mean what I say though knowing he wouldnt admit it even if he was crazy. Which as I thought... he denies the words I've said
"What are you doing up here." he tries changing the subject but im not stupid.
"Answer me." I uncross my arms and raise my voice, showing my anger, he doesnt flinch.
He just looks at me biting his cheek holding back tears, he expectedly breaks down and sits on a randomly placed barrel beside him. I show no sympathy towards him and stand in my place.
"I. I. I... I can't." he gets up and storms down the stairs leaving me with the girl.
RENNS POV
Slowly but surely the pieces are coming together, Katelynn's parents said she was adapted around age 7 due to abusive parents.
Her mother left her with her father. Katelynn eventually ran away and got a new family.
Nobody ever found the father.
The only person to know anything about him was her mother, which we don't know the location of either.
We are 100% positive the man who kidnapped Katelynn also has Carlie.
The parents have been in questioning for days, shown pictures of people that might have something to do with the kidnapping. Everything possible to try and find this man.
I sit in my car as I drive to Carlie's to feed marshmallow.
She lives about 15 minutes away from the station.
I get out of the car and open the door, snowball comes running up and weaves through my legs. I scoop her up and rub her head making my way to the kitchen and giving her a can of cat food.
I sit down on the couch
CARLIES POV
I walk into the room where Katelynn sits, I untie her from the chair.
"How long have you been up here?" I cut her hands loose.
"It's hard to say, weeks probably." she sniffs.
"My names Carlie." I introduce myself standing up, she looks at me
"I'm Katelynn." she frowns, I give her a half smile and put my hand on her back, she flinches. I reassure her that I'm not going I hurt her, we walk downstairs. David is nowhere to be found.
I welcome her into the kitchen and pull a chair out for her, she takes a seat.
"Are you hungry?" I ask filling a cup of water and sitting it infront of her
"I'm starving." she weeps
"I'll make you some broth." I rub her head
"How old are you Katelynn." I ask
She doesn't answer, I notice her looking around.
"Katelynn?" I question pouring some broth into a bowl
"You okay?" I add
"This house looks familiar." she whispers. David walks in and notices Katelynn.
"Whats she doing down here?" he asks pointing to her.
"I let here come down." I boil a pot of tea
"Oh so now you think you own this place?" he laughs and I look at him.
"This is NOT how you treat somebody David! I'm letting her EAT." I swing back around and give her the broth; refilling her empty cup with water.
He walks to me and smacks me across the face, I fall to the ground
"THIS is NOT your business Kelsey!" he shouts
"Kelsey?" a sweet voice asks, we both look at Katelynn
"My mother?" she tears up looking down at me
RENNS POV
I walk back into the office, people are sitting around talking, Daryl calls me into a room.
I take a seat on a chair he offers.
"What's going on?" I ask
"David, it is his name, he has abducted Katelynn and Carlie." he answers
"I knew it!" I know I said his name was David before but we weren't sure if he was the one who abducted both of them.
Daryl's eyes catch something else, I turn around and see a beautiful women walk in, she notices us staring and a man walks her over to us, he opens the door and she walks in.
"Who's this?" Daryl asks
"This is Kelsey, Katelynn's mother." He speaks and the women smirks.
