Casie was in a deep sleep, snoring like an elephant. My dress was delicately folded and tucked safely under my bed. My shoes were stowed in the back of a tote shoved in the back corner under my bed. The only thing not changed was my hair. It was still in the perfectly curled ponytail it had been in all night. I couldn’t bring myself to take it down. I wanted to feel like a princess for just a bit longer.
I stared at my ceiling. I couldn’t stop thinking about tonight. About how I had been to a ball. About how I had met a Prince. About how we almost kissed! I closed my eyes and let the memory replay in front of my eyes like a movie.

We had been around the whole garden 5 times and my legs began ache. He stopped near the back of the garden under a willow tree. A huge blue lake spread out in front of us. His hands engulfed mine and his fingers were warm compared to my icy ones. We were hand in hand, face to face with the moon’s reflection in the back ground. Everything felt perfect. His face grew bigger and bigger. It took me a moment to realize he is getting closer instead of bigger. I closed my eyes to go in too. We were both inches away eagerly waiting for our lips to touch. I felt his breath on my face and my heart began to swell. Any moment now…
“Riley!”
My eyes flew open and I jumped in place. Riley had his eyes closed and a sour expression on his face. He looked irritated.
“What?!” I could hear it in his voice as he yelled at the man who called his name.
“The limo is here.”
His eyes opened and I saw the sadness in them.
“Give us a moment.” Riley ordered.
“Sir, we must leave now.”
Riley sighed. He looked out of the corner of his eye to see if the man was watching us. Something told me if the man wasn’t looking he would have done something entirely different than what he did.
He bowed to me and held out his hand. I put mine in his and he bent his mouth to my hand kissing it gently.
“Until next week. M’lady.” He stood back up left me alone.
