stars

You make the stars fall from the sky

They fizzle out like campfire embers

And hiss gently as they kiss the ground

They're beautiful

I watch them drifting about like fireflies

They're spinning all around

But I'm dodging left and right

When the stars meet my skin

I'm peppered with burns of a universe abound

The scars are of you

And oh, I love you so

It's just that - well, I've found:

The stars are better in the sky

And you are better from a distance

Maybe, really, that is why

I fend you off at every instance

That you come too close

Because you live in my personal space

Like the stars; but don't worry

I love you anyways
