Think about it: every creature on this planet likes to do something. A monkey likes to swing on branches and climb. A whale likes to sing.
So what do mermaids like to do?
1. Brush their hair
2. Sing
3. Play water tag (It's the same as tag)
4. Explore
5. Collect shells
6. Make jewelry
7. Play with seahorses
8. Learn other languages (such as whale or dolphin)
9. Grow legs and meet humans (Some can do that!)
10. Care for the ocean
These are just some of the things mermaids in the ocean like to do.
I never met any ocean-born mermaids before, but these are things I'm guessing they like to do, or things I'd like to do if I was an ocean-born.
