I decided to turn around quickly, before he realizes me.

"Maya!" Lucas shouted

I began to run away, ignoring him, but you can't run away from your problems.

"Maya, I'm sorry I kissed you,but come on! Talk to me. Please." Lucas begged

We were a couple of feet away, I turned around to look at him and said, "I don't want to. I told you to leave me the hell alone, I don't know why you don't understand that. Do I have to remind you again? You love Riley."

"You don't know my feelings." Lucas said, walking up to me

"Okay. So I don't. But I damn well know you can't like me. This has been the first time we actually talked since high school." I said, backing away

"We ran into each other a couple of times at stores though." Lucas said

"But we never talked. You don't even know what's been going on in my life these past years."

"Then tell me." Lucas smiled

"No."

"Why not?" Lucas frowned

"Well, 1 I don't want to be near you, 2 if Riley sees us we're in trouble, 3 I don't like you and 4... did I mention I don't want to be near you?" I answered

"Okay, 1 why? 2 Riley's not going to do shit, she has no control over me, 3 oh and 4 you did." Lucas said

"Ugh." I mumbled under my breath, "You are just so difficult."

"I'm difficult? You're the one trying to avoid me!" Lucas shouted

"Because I'm scared that I'm going to like you again and get hurt again!" I shouted back

"What?" Lucas asked

"Nothing, I gonna go." I said, turning away

"So Farkle, how have you been?" I asked, breaking the silence

"Alright. I work along side my dad. It's a great job. Although, if I'm not back in two weeks, I'm probably not going to have a job." Farkle laughed

"That's great. Well, not the losing the job part." I said

"You? What's Riley Matthews up to?" Farkle smiled

"Nothing interesting. Right after high school Lucas and I didn't go to college. We just traveled. We had some temporary jobs here and there, but we never made much money. I always wanted to go to college though. I still want to." I sighed, "I regret so much."

"You can still go." Farkle started to say, "Right after we get off this shitty place, you can sign up for one."

"I-I can't. I don't have enough money to pay for college. Plus, my grades. Cs and Ds aren't going to get me anywhere." I sighed again

"I will get you into a college. I promise." Farkle said, "I have my ways."

"No. It's alright." I said, "I don't deserve more help from you and Maya. I was a je-"

"Stop saying that Riley. I know that, that high school you, wasn't you. You're better than that. Everyone deserves a second chance. I want you to get your life back together again." Farkle smiled

"Thank you Farkle." I said, giving him a big hug, "So much."

"I will always be here for you Riles."
