the cancer cover has me shook™

a few months later, snow had begun to fall, sometime overnight. it dusted the ground, barely sticking to the dead grass and covering the tree branches. it made the clearing look like something from a post card.

tyler wrapped his coat tighter around himself, watching the shadows in the trees, waiting for josh to form out of the trees. josh would come. he always came. tyler shivered.

snow drifted down from the clouds, and the sky was white. normally, he loved this time of year. everything was lighter when the snow covered up all of the ugly spots, filling potholes and making loneliness feel less and less forced. everything seemed to pause. it was quiet when the snow fell.

tyler's footprints from earlier had disappeared into the new snow by the time he left the clearing, his fingertips a light blue and his lips looking bruised.

josh hadn't come.
