"I need you like I need air. Your the only light in my life. You're my lighthouse Layla, I need you to find my way through this life. Without you there is only darkness. So please, if you're in there somewhere, open your breathtaking eyes and show me the way."

| Adam's POV |

The unsteady rhythm of the heart monitor's beeping noise pierced the frightening silence filling the hospital room. Each noise, each beeping sound, each line moving up and down on the monitor is giving me the slight reassurance that my Layla is still here and alive. Still fighting. Still breathing.

But for how long?

I look at her frail, broken body attached to all of the different medical wires and whatnot while another tear out of a thousand escapes my eye. I wish, I wish with all of my might that she would be able to start breathing on her own because my beautiful, sweet, fragile wife is breathing with the help of a ventilator.

My Layla is alive but she is not breathing on her own nor is she responding to anything.

And she's been like this for almost a month.

After Sami got the news about Layla's whereabouts i felt like my heart had dropped to the ground. Apparently the cops had gotten a call from people driving by where Layla was kept when they kept on hearing whimpers and screams from close by. They immediately called the cops and informed them and I'll forever be grateful and indebted to them for bringing my Layla back to me, even if not in the best form.

According to the doctor, if the ambulance were even a minute late, Layla would probably be gone by now. They all called her situation a "miracle" and I will forever be thankful to God for giving her another chance at life, to stay with me and her angel.

Layla has been in a coma for about 23 days to be exact, and there has only been a slight progress. Layla is on life support and she's barely hanging onto life by a thread.

She had taken too many hits to her head, as well as having some major swelling in her abdomen, broken ribs, one broken arm, fractured bones & jaw. The swelling in her head is causing this coma, her brain has been through too much and it's finding it hard to respond to all medication.

I haven't left her side ever since she was admitted in the hospital. The hospital has literally became my home now, my clothes are here, this is now where I shower, eat and sleep. I haven't been to work ever since the accident, I simply couldn't leave my sweet Layla when she needs me the most. My heart won't let me. Layla's parents and Sami have been worried sick about her, but there's not much we can do besides pray and make dua'a for her.

Melak has been spending a lot of time here too, she keeps asking about her mom, and her young mind thinks her mom is sleeping this whole time. That still doesn't stop her from sitting beside her mother on the hospital bed and ramble on about everything and anything whenever she gets the chance.

Right now, I'm the only one in the hospital room with Layla. They all left to go home and rest before they'd come back in the evening.
