Even though I know Joshua is just mad, his words still stung. It felt like every letter was a knife, penetrating my spinal cord and stomach, (two of the places in one's body that has the most nerves). I flinch the slightest bit, but he notices. He looked at me, his face showing nothing but guilt. "I'm sorry I didn't..." He trails off, running his hands through his hair when he saw my face harden. "No Joshua," I said, "You're right." I turned around and rode back to the group, leaving Joshua standing there.

I got back to the group, ignoring everyone as I rode right to Isaac. "When are we leaving?" I asked. "Um-leaving...Oh! Right, now I guess." It seemed even he was shocked by my performance. I gave him a curt nod before trotting over to a stream to let my horse drink. Even if they did believe I was Phantom Rider, I thought Shouldn't they also remember that I'm an elf? Elves are known for their fighting skills and for being good with animals, horses inparticular. So, what was the big surprise?

The rest of the ride I ignored all the boys. When we got to the campus, Isaac gave us our school maps and room numbers. I went straight to the stables, and then to my room, failing to notice the the lake and ignoring the stares.

My room was 507, on the highest floor of the girls' dorm, and all the way to the left, farthest away from the stair cases. I think Arian must have told the king something. Then I noticed a second bed. Great. I thought, Now I have to be around people. I was not looking forward to the awkward stares of a room mate.

I quickly shoved my travel bag into one of the cherry wood dressers, and set out my blankets on the matching four poster bed nearest to the window. I glanced swiftly out the window before making my way back to the hall and down the stairs.

In the middle of the campus is a huge lake. It kind of reminded me of the lake back home, except this lake had two gold poles at each end that connected to a white marble canopy. Big oak trees bordered the aquia blue lake and casting dark shadows over it, despite the sun.

At the far edge of the campus was the huge golden gate that was always shut, unless there were students or teachers that needed in or out. The outside of the buildings were white stone. The North side of the campus was covered in thick dense forest. Fresh cut green grass covered the rest of the campus, except for the cobblestone paths that led from building to building.

I strolled across the clearing and over to the lake, ignoring the whispers and stares. I had an hour to burn and nothing to do. I saw that most first years would be exploring the campus buildings, testing the boundaries, and other things, but they all stayed clear of the forest. Being a elf and all, I was drawn to the forest. I pushed my curly hair over my ears the best I could, and made my way over to the forest.

"I wouldn't go in there if I were you," a voice called out, right as I was about to enter the mob of prickly branches. I whipped around to see a boy sitting with his back against one of the oak trees. He had dark chocolate brown hair and light blue eyes. His perfectly toned skin and chiseled chin/jaw gave him a very intriguing appearance. He looked oddly like Elias, despite the dark hair.

"And why not?" I asked. "Because they say there are dark elves in there that'll kill you! When you're all alone, they'll spring out of the trees with big axes and swords and cut you up into a million pieces! Some say it's just a group of rogues, but no one has ever lived to tell..." Another boy with sandy blonde hair, hazel eyes and again, chiseled jaw line, peaked his head around the trunk of the tree. I felt my ears drop, flatting down like they always did when I was ticked. I realized too late that my hair had parted, revealing my long, pointed ears. The second boy noticed too, because his eyes widened, and he stuttered, "B-but that's j-just a m-myth t-to scare the first years! Not that's there is anything wrong with dark elves!" I rolled my eyes. "Ya know, there are other types of elves besides dark elves." I said. "And, anyways, the worst insult for an elf, is to call them a dark elf when they really aren't. Just because I have black hair doesn't mean I'm evil."
