Chapter 3 | meeting the gang

Reader POV

"Hiccup, I don't know if this a good idea"

"It'll be fine trust me"

I stood- thats right stood

Flash back

"Come stay with me, you can help me with being a merman" Hiccup said.

"I don't know, I'm used to being a mermaid..." I said.

"Come on! I really need your help with this, you can come back here whenever you like"

"Ok fine"

I pulled myself out of the water and took a deep breath, I put my hand over my tail and slowly started to heat it.

Once it was dry sparks surrounded me and I saw something I never thought I would, MY legs.

They were covered with mermaid scale leggings and my shell top was replaced with a blue tank top, my shell crown was still there and I still had my fishnet belt, I was barefoot and scared.

Hiccup held out his hand and I took it, he pulled me up and I stumbled, only to be caught by Hiccup.

Once I got the hang of legs, it was time to go.

End flash back.

In front of the forest, facing the well structured 'dragons edge'.

Hiccup pulled me toward the huts, bubbles following close behind.

"You can stay with me until we figure things out" Hiccup said.

"Ok, thanks" I said.

We stopped in front of a big building and Hiccup opened the door to be jumped on by a Night Fury.

"Hey bud! I missed you too" He said.

"Hiccup where have you been?"

"Whos this?"

"Whoever she is shes mine"

I didn't like the last guys attitude.

I slightly held up my hand to shoot fire at him when Hiccup pulled it back down.

"Guys this is (y/n), (y/n) this is Astrid, Fishlegs, Snotlout, and ugh where are the twins?" Hiccup said.

"Who cares?" Astrid said.

She walked up to me and examined me.

"She seems resourceful, but you might wanna put on some shoes" Astrid said.

"Oh yeah I lost mine, nice too meet you" I said.

"Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?" Snotlout said.

"Did it hurt when you crawled from the depths of hell?" I said.

"NICE!" Astrid said and high fived me.

Hiccup even laughed at that one.

Snotlout rolled his eyes and turned around, as he did I moved my hand and splashed the water from a nearby glass at him.

The gang broke down in laughter.

"You have a sculdroun?" Fishlegs asked.

"Yeah, I found her stuck on a beach and took her in" I said.

Suddenly I felt a cold, wet tub of water be thrown over my Head.

It got on Hiccup too.

"LOKI'D!" Two voices said behind us, presumably the twins.

My eyes widened and Hiccup and I looked at each other.

"I'm gonna show (y/n) around" Hiccup said and pulled me out.

We sprinted to his house.

"5, 4, 3, 2,"

We slammed the door behind us.

"1"

We fell face first on the floor with our tails.

"And that was the twins" Hiccup said.

"I figured"

"That was too close" Hiccup said.

"Way too close..."

"They'll get suspicious if we have dry clothes 5 minutes later, hmmm... We'll have to change"

"But I don't have any clothes"

"You can wear one of my shirts" Hiccup suggested.

My cheeks went red.

"O-ok" I said.

We dried off and got changed before heading back to the gang.

The smell of Hiccup lingered on his shirt that he lent me, he smelt like, grass and mint I guess.

We walked into the clubhouse, I sat down while Hiccup dealt with the twins.

I stared at him, resting my head in my hands that were covered by the long sleeves of his shirt, every so often we would make eye contact, I'd get lost in is emerald green eyes that could melt any girls heart melt.

"Ok spill" Astrid said snapping me out of my trance.

"What?"

"How long have you known him?"

"A few days, why?"

"You've been staring at him for the last 30 minutes, I see what's going on here"

I gave her a confused look.

"Have you ever met another human? You're crushing on him"

I wanted to say 'No actually Hiccup is the first human I've met, but I know what you mean because I've met hundreds of other mermaids and mermen'

"What? No" I said.

"Come on, mermaid" she said.

I tensed up.

"Mermaid?"

"Well you have the leggings and the shells in your hair. and you have a sculdroun, seems like a suitable nickname"

I sighed in relief.

"Come on we're friends, you can tell me" she said.

"No seriously we just met, how could I be crushing on him?"

"Love at first sight maybe" she said.

I looked over at Hiccup.

Am I crushing on him?
