Two Paths (Sequel to Why Me)

I'm Sorry

"What do you want?!" I questioned.

"Why didn't you tell me that you were alive?" He asked almost threateningly. "Where have you been all these years? How are you alive?"

"I have my reasons; I've been everywhere with no help from you!"

"That doesn't answer my questions."

"I don't care, I don't have to explain myself to you."

"Mariah, please answer me." He pleaded.

I looked away avoiding eye contact but knew he won't stop until he gets his answers.

"How are you alive?"

"I was saved by a group of people."

"Where were you this whole time?"

"I was with them traveling the world."

"Why didn't you tell me you were alive?"

I sighed. "Because, you still hate me and glad that I was dead." I replied.

Sasuke was silent not knowing what to say.

"Mariah.......................I never intended to kill you and you know that. You got in the way."

"Yes you did, I'm nothing to you Sasuke." I said as tears were threatening to come out.

"Mariah...You are something to me."

"Are?"

"Yeah right, how do I know that you're not lying to me again?"

"I'm not lying Mariah,"

"Yes he is,"

"Yes you are." I said looking into his eyes.

"Mariah," He said in a softer tone, "I'm not lying to you. You mean so much to me and when I believed that you were dead it broke my heart. I never stopped thinking about you."

"I don't believe you," I said glaring at him.

He leaned closer towards me.

"Please Mariah believe me. I still care about you Mariah and I love you." He whispered in my ear.

My heart fluttered and my eyes widened. I've been wanting to hear those words for so long I thought I was in a dream.

"I know that you still love me Mariah. I can tell by how fast your heart is beating." Sasuke whispered.

His breath sent shivers down my spine. Those words sent a certain memory flash through my mind.

*Flash Back*

"What did you say?" I asked.

"I said that you're more beautiful than the stars." He repeated.

Just then he started to lean closer to me and I felt myself lean towards him. Getting closer and closer towards Sasuke my heart started to beat faster and faster. I felt like it would burst from my chest any minute now. My heart beat pounding in my ears making me believe that you could hear it a mile away. I could smell his sweet scent making me intoxicated with him. We both slowly closed our eyes still inching closer and closer until there was no space left between us.

Our lips finally met. His lips were so soft and warm; the kiss was filled with passion and love. I felt a spark between us as our lips were moving in sync. The only thing that I could think about was Sasuke. I moved my arms around his neck as he put his arms around my waist deepening the kiss. It felt as if time has stopped and that nothing else was happening. The outside world had disappeared and it was only me and Sasuke here on this planet alone, nothing could ruin this perfect moment. It felt just like heaven.

Out of breath we both parted with a blush on our cheeks. I stared into his dark onyx eyes as he stared into my mysterious ones.

"That was amazing," we both said at the same time.

I smiled and he smiled.

"Mariah,"

"Yeah?"

He reached his hand out to me and cupped my cheek.

"I love you,"

"I love you to Sasuke."

We then got closer and right then and there we kissed again under the beautiful moon and stars wishing that this moment would last forever.

*End Flash Back*

"I-I don't love you Sasuke." I said looking down at the ground.

"I know you do Mariah." He said bringing his face closer to mine.

"No I don't,"

"Stop denying it Mariah."

His hand went to my cheek forcing me to look at him.

"I don't love you,"

His hand reached down and held my necklace olding it with his palm open..

"Then why do you still have this necklace? Why do you still have the photos?"

"Just leave me alone Sasuke. I don't want to talk about this." I cried.

"Mariah I love you okay. I tried to deny it so many times when I planned to leave the village. Saying that it was just an infatuation but, after I you were gone, I was hurt. The pain I was feeling was more than when my clan was killed. What I said to you all those years ago, they were a lie. I love you more than anything. I'd do anything for you."

I got out of his grip and started to walk away but stopped and turned my head to look at him once last time.

"Even give up your revenge?" I questioned already knowing the answer.

He looked down and stayed silent. I turned back around and continued to walk.

"That's what I thought."

"Mariah, I just want to say that..............I'm sorry." He said.

I stopped. He came up from behind me and pulled me into a hug from behind. He rested his head on my shoulder.

"I'm sorry for everything that I've done to you. All the pain that I caused you; I know that I'm the reason for your hand not functioning correctly. Because of me your heart is torn in two, I nearly killed you, and I probably made your life worse. I only said those things so you could move on with your life instead of chasing after me. I'm so deeply sincerely sorry for everything I've done to you. If I could take everything back, I would in a heartbeat. I love you Mariah with all my heart and I always will." He said with a lot of emotion in his voice, eyes, and even on his face.

"He's lying to you Mariah, he's playing you just to see if you'll fall for it again."

Mariah couldn't help but let out a laugh.

"I'm sorry Sasuke, but I can't forgive you. I knew you were leaving and knew that I couldn't stop you. Obviously you don't know me at all. Knowing that you were choosing your own path, I was going to make my own but you assumed that I was not capable to live without you which got me into this mess. You caused me so much pain and I believe that because of the stress and pain I'm going insane. Even if I do forgive you then...............how do I know that you won't hurt me again? There could always be someone else or you just get sick of me. I can't take that risk Sasuke. I told you about my mental health before and when you left it got worse but one person was helping me through that and that's my brother."

I pulled away from him and walked away with hot tears streaming down my face while the wind made my hair its dance partner.

"I'm sorry Sasuke; you're going to cause me more pain in the future." I whispered.
