Seeing my family again had to be one the most amazing, and awkward experiences of my life. The looks on their faces when they saw me brought me to tears.
Lucius and I came up with the story that I had ran away, and wanted to start a new life...it didn't sound anything like me but it's the only explanation I could come up with for them to understand.
I could see in my parents eyes, and in there whispers that they knew I was lying but I think they were too afraid to say anything with Lucius being there, and also with seeing the change in me. I have to admit, seeing Lucius in the human world does not suit him whatsoever.
He looked so out of place and inhumanly gorgeous it was very unnatural. Did I look that way to them too..? I couldn't help but wonder.
Lucius and I stayed with them for a week, which I think helped calm and unsettle my parents all at the same time.
Regardless, it was a very long week, and as much as I love my family it was very difficult being with them again, and living a lie.
Not to mention my new vampire hearing made it easy to hear every conversation in the house that my family assumed was private.
I didn't want to hurt them anymore than I already have. But, at least they now don't have that feeling of the unknown.
I promised them I'd call everyday and visit once a month. I left them with so many unanswered questions, but I knew that they knew this was the best they were going to get.
"They'll always love you, you know that right?" Lucius asked to me as we drove back to the Vasile castle. "They just don't understand how to process what they've seen...it will always be different for both you and them." He grabbed my hand and brought it to his lips placing a light kiss, and then continuing to hold it as he drove.
We had just returned to the underworld, which by the way was way easier than I would have ever thought. It was just simply a portal we had to walk through, which you decide where you want to go with simply pressing a few buttons. It takes you to the main cities in the world...and from there you have to travel like a normal human.
"Do we have to go back to the castle...isn't there somewhere else we can stay?" I asked him.
"Even if we lived thousands of miles away, you will still have to face Julien again...as much as I hate to admit that." Lucius said while I noticed he gripped the wheel much tighter then before.
It always amazed me how much Lucius understood me, even though it shouldn't anymore.
Minutes later we were back at the castle, and servants were immediately grabbing our bags and taking them back to our rooms...I also need to get used to that.
A term referring to a human whose blood literally contains the original symbol of vampires, when looked at under a microscope.
This mark in the humans blood symbolizes that the human is a descendant of vampires first and original creator, Mikael. These humans are highly revered in the vampire society as they are seen as equals to Mikael.
Mikael created two races - First of them being Vampires, while the other being the Marked.
The Marked were much more rare at there time of conception, as there were only five created, since according to Mikael they took more energy from him to create since they are of almost equal essence to himself.
The Marked are special, as they contain many of the talented gifts that vampires also have, although in human form. The Marked must unlock these abilities within themselves with training from other marked humans, or by self discovery which is more difficult to do.
They are also special as they are the only humans who can form offspring with vampires creating a unique and very powerful hybrid known as the Misceo.
There is currently no known human of whom's blood has been discovered as marked for the last hundred thousand years, and are now known to be extinct, some even say they are only a myth.
"Fuck." I slammed the old book shut, it wasn't telling me any new information that I didn't already know.
I was attempting to do more research on marked humans to help my father and I have a better approach explaining Erica to the council. It was all the same information in every book I'd read on the subject.
"Sir." Someone called from outside the library.
I sighed. "What?"
"Lucius and Princess Erica have returned, you asked me to alert you when they did."
There back already? I thought I had more time to research this before father explains all of this to them. My adrenaline also started to kick knowing Erica was back in the castle.
I quickly left the library in search of my father, wanting to be updated on when he planned on telling this news to Luicus and Erica.
"Julien damn it slow down and come back here!" I stopped and turned recognizing the voice instantly as my cousin Kate's .
"I've been trying to talk to you for days you know, you always run off!" She yelled
I laughed at her, she's always so dramatic. "If you didn't always wear heels you might be able to keep up with me."
She gasped and playfully swatted at me. "Julien you know I can't not wear heel's, its a part of my look, and don't change the subject we are here to talk about you. Your not yourself and I know this probably is because of Eri-"
"I don't want to talk bout her, and I can already hear your thoughts on what you are going to say, I don't need to meet someone else. That's ridiculous Kate she was just my blood slave for christ sake!"
"Oh really..." She said as she crossed her arms. "Because that's not the rumor that your little miss ex fiancee Alina has been saying."
