Jiyuu's POV

"Traitor."

"You're a fool."

"Stop siding with a Maharlika."

"You're a Mahika, stop fooling yourself."

"You'll only get hurt when you're with a Maharlika, stop it."

"Worthless."

"You traitor."

"Stop it!!"

My eyes opened, and my body was matted with sweat. I took in shaky breaths, terrified from the nightmare.

My body ached strangely, and my head throbbed.

Then I caught sight of a woman.

She had long ebony hair and shining gray eyes framed by thin-rimmed glasses. She had a stoic expression that never seemed to faze.

"You're awake."  she said, voice in monotone.
"W-who are you?" I asked, strangely struggling to form words, as if it was the first time I spoke.

She adjusted her glasses and made a note on her clipboard before she spoke again.

"I am the Royal Doctor, Kiyoko Shimizu.  The king ordered me to watch over you, you were in a coma for the past three days, courtesy of a spirit who possessed you prior to this."

Memories flashed in my head, a woman, a fight, the king lying on the cave floor, a sword pointed to his chest....

I was possessed by Galit, now I remember.

"I'll alert the King of your awakening." she said, and went on her way.

I was left in the deafening silence of the room.

My mind swiveled to my dream, voices shouting at me, to remind me that I was a Mahika, that wasn't supposed to side with a Maharlika.

Traitor

No, stop it.

I'm doing this for my family, for the Mahika race to be protected against Aoba Johsai.

I'm not a traitor.

I'm not worthless.

I'm not--

"Thank God, you're finally awake!"

I suddenly felt warmth, and shock was painted all over my visage. I cleared my throat, as my cheeks burned, and I silently chided myself for being flustered.

He seemed to sense my uneasiness, and broke the embrace, averting his gaze from me.

"Um.. what I meant to say was...." he trailed off as he coughed, before he continued.

"I thought you were going to die, good thing you woke up before I could arrange a funeral service for you." he said, opposite to what he said earlier.

I smacked the back of his head, annoyed at his statement.

He's annoying me the moment I wake up.

That's King Kageyama Tobio for you.

"Shut up, I'm still recovering and you annoy me like that. One of the things I really hate about you."

He sighed, and massaged the back of his head, and mumbled incoherent statements.

"What?" I asked, not understanding what he was saying.

"I said I really hate you!" he said, crimson coating his cheeks.

I know.

Everyone hates me.

So I know he hates me too.

Iligtas(1)

I put my concentration on the spell as I stay perched on the balcony. This spell requires great concentration, in order for the spell to work on the whole country.

Clear your mind, Jiyuu.

Traitor.

Worthless.

Stop it, stop it.

You are a fool.

You are being used by that Maharlika.

Keep your calm, don't mind those voices.

You don't deserve to live, traitor!

My knees wobbled, and came in contact with the marble of the balcony. I breathed heavily, hands covering my ears, pupils dilating, tears streaming down my cheeks, as I realized the truth.

I'm useless.

I can't even complete a spell.

I can't save Karasuno.

They're right, I really am worthless.

I wish I never woke up.
