A lot of people make mistakes when writing the prologue. This is normally the first part that your readers will see apart from the allegiances. You should grab their attention here, to get them excited to continue reading. Prologues normally aren't as long as chapters, I make them 300-700 words. Chapters should be 700-1000.

The prologue should introduce the setting, characters, and problem. Like this:

Setting:
· Do they live in the mountains? A forest? By a thunderpath? Where?
· If there is going to be a natural disaster, try making it clear that they live by: a volcano, an ocean, etc.
· Anything else?

Characters:
· Whose pov will the book be in?
· Who is our hero?
· If we have a villain, who is it?
· What other important characters will there be?

Problem:
· Will there be a natural disaster?
· Will there be a sickness?
· A drought?
· A fire?
· A murderer?
· A prophecy?
· Something else?

Cliche prologues:
· A battle
· A death
· A birth
· Med. Cat receives a prophecy
· StarClan talks about the main character
· Villain does something evil
· Anything else?

Try to stay away from cliche prologues. Otherwise, just make your prologue attention grabbing, and you'll be good.
