3. Your Smile makes me smile

(Y/N POV)

I step into the office and examine the inside. Most of its decor are washed up flags from crashed ships. Behind the desk on the the side of the room is a billboard covered in picture of a fish lady, papyrus, and a... Yellow dinosaur? Not very surprising to be honest. Suddenly, the chair in front of the desk spins around. The fish lady from the pictures is sitting in it. I read off the golden card on her desk. 'Undyne' It reads. I stare at this Undyne figure and she stares back. "What is a human doing here? Why is it staring at me?" She asks. She sounds mad. She looks like the kind of person that's always mad. "I woke up here Ma'am." I speak. Papyrus and Sans look at me. In the corners of my eyes, I can see their shocked expressions at my behavior. "Ma'am..? Huh. You know your place here, don't you human?" I nod. "What would you say your place is this our base, huh?" She asks me. I can tell it's a test. "Most certainly not above anyone I've met so far. And I'm probably not as honorable as anyone I'll meet here." I answer calmly. She looks me up and down. I keep my head high and my back straight. I've seen army drills before, hell, I've been in some. They'll figure you out, no matter what you do or say. Undyne sits back down and looks to the two skeletons behind me. I don't lose my position, because I might be tested on this too. I stay still with my arms by my side and shoulders back. "How did she get to our base, you two? She says she woke up here, so surely you know how?" She questions them. "We brought her here, Undyne. Pap wanted her alive." Sans says. Wait, they could've killed me... But didn't? Why? "YES UNDYNE, I FELT BAD AND DIDN'T WANT TO KILL HER." Papyrus says. "She look at me again and laughs heartily. Both brothers look even more confused and shocked. "At ease, human." She chuckles. I relax my body. Undyne grins. "Even been in an army before?" She asks me. "No," I reply, "But I've been in enough drills to know how to act in front of a high ranking officer." "And why would assume I'm high ranking?" She interrogates me. I respond with my entire logic of my answer;

"Well, first off, you have quite a lot of flags, which you would need to be on a hunt or patrol of some sort to collect. And the billboard proves you have people to protect, which is one of the biggest reasons I think and know soldiers fight for. And you look like some who can and would fight in desperate measures. And to top it off, you seem important enough to be high ranking. So, uh, yeah." I finish. "Well said, human. Well said. What's your name, anyway?" She ask me. I have a feeling she's warming up to me. "I'm Y/N." "Y/N, huh? Well I'm Undyne. Nice to meet you." She tells me. "Oh, I know your name." I say, a grin forming on my face. "What?! How--" "It's written on that golden desk plate." I giggle.

"...Oh, right..."

(Gaster!Sans POV)

Me, Y/N, and Pap step out of Undyne's office. I can't believe she managed to befriend Undyne so quickly! "Wait, why were you in army drills?" I ask Y/N. "Oh, well I didn't like to do anything else. It's kind of cool to be in army drills, it became like a hobby, sort of? I enjoyed being able to be in a crowd where everyone is different, but in mind the same. Y'know?" She replies. I decide that we should go see Tori, next. She might like Y/N. I smile at how this human is so easily likable to everyone here. "Hey! You're smiling!" She says, a small grin forming on her face. "Uh, yeah? So?" I say, confused. "I just haven't seen you smile the whole time I've known you so far." She explains. As we walk down the hall, I notice she's... Looking? For what though? She stops at a door. "WHY ARE YOU STOPPING, HUMAN?" Papyrus asks. She's staring at the picture on the door. "This is the dinosaur from Undyne's billboard! Can we meet her?" She asks. "Sure, I don't see why not." I shrug and knock on the door. Tori might have to wait a bit longer than I expected. "C-come in!" Alphys nervously stutters. I open the door and we all walk in, closing the door gently behind us. "Hi Alphys. The human saw you on Undyne's billboard and wanted to meet you." I say, causing Alphys to turn around and examine the crowd of people in the room. Then she notices Y/N. She walks forward and holds out her shaky hand. "H-h-hi! I, um, I'm Alphys!" She says. Y/N slips her hand into Alphys' and says, "I'm Y/N! Nice to meet you!" She smiles, and I can't help but smile too.
