I think if I stepped back or walked away, no one would really miss me. They would think of me from time to time, and wonder about me. But years later, they would have to think even harder just to remember my name.

That's how important you are to people: you aren't important at all.

People will tell you just how much you mean to them, but when the sky falls there will be no one there for you to hold it up.

You can just lie down between the folds of the night, and use the darkness as a blanket (you're surrounded by darkness, anyway). No one will think twice, no one will notice that you've been fading away for so long.

And by the time they finally do wake up and realize the spot next to them is empty:

it will be too late.
