What Have You Done?

Conner saw Skyler go down, he watched as Lucas turned towards him.

He couldn't see under his mask, but Conner could feel Lucas smirking.

Conner fitted an arrow into his bowstring and fired it at Lucas.

He effortlessly dodged it, Conner continued firing at him.

Lucas shot his gun at Conner, who rolled onto the floor and dodged the blast.

"I'd love to stay, but I really must be going. I have other business to attend to."

Conner glared at Lucas as he turned away, just like before all of his soldiers retreated.

"Sky?"

Conner turned and saw Peter making his way towards Skyler.

Conner looked at her still form.

No...
Not Sky...
Please not Sky...

"Conner!"
Alexia ran up to him.
"What happened? Are you okay?"

She stopped when she noticed Skyler.

Conner and Alexia joined Peter at her side.

Peter was desperately checking for a pulse, anything telling them that she was still alive.

Her eyes were closed and blood covered her forehead.

"Come on Sky, I can't lose you too."
Tears were filling Peter's eyes.

Conner had no idea how close Skyler had been to Peter, but he had been friends with her ever since he arrived at the Avengers Building.

They had trained together, pulled pranks on Steve and the other Avengers, she had always been there for him when he needed someone to talk to.

She couldn't be dead.

Not like this.

Alexia was crying, Conner wrapped his arms around her, letting his own tears fall.

"What happened?"

Logan ran up to them, Bruce was following close behind.

"Oh my gosh..."
Bruce looked down at Skyler in shock.

"Lucas."
Logan's hands clenched into fists.
"Why would he kill her?"

That was the question Conner kept asking himself.

Skyler hadn't been that big of a threat to Lucas, why had he bothered killing her when there much larger threats to him?

He looked at Peter, and then Alexia and Bruce.

Then he thought about the way he was reacting and he understood.

Skyler had been close to everyone in the Avengers, they had all practically raised her, they had become her family.

Now that she was dead...

It would be just like when Tony died.

If Steve had died.

Conner understood Lucas' plan now.
He wasn't just targeting the strongest...

Bruce knelt down beside Skyler; gently turning her face towards him.

"Is there any place we can put her body?"
He asked Logan.

"Yeah."
He replied gruffly.

Bruce was about to lift her up but Peter stopped him.

"I'll do it."

He gently lifted up her body, Conner followed them as theycmade their way through the destroyed Mansion.
