Whom the son sets free IS free indeed

Whenever I fall to temptation I find myself questioning my freedom. Is it real? Am I really free.? Or am I still actually tied down in sin? Maybe I was never free... maybe all this time I've only been fooling myself, because in reality I'm still who I used to be.

The truth is that I AM free. My testimony IS real. I'm NOT who I use to be, and me falling to sin doesn't make that any less real.

The enemy would like nothing more than to make you question your faith, and your God, and that's why those questions come to our minds. You can't control which questioning thoughts come to mind, but you can control how you respond to them.

The best way to combat the enemy's lies is to throw God's truth at Him. Here are some of my favs :)

" With the arrival of Jesus, the Messiah, that fateful dilemma is resolved. Those who enter into Christ's being-here-for-us no longer have to live under a continuous, low-lying black cloud. A new power is in operation. The Spirit of life in Christ, like a strong wind, has magnificently cleared the air, freeing you from a fated lifetime of brutal tyranny at the hands of sin and death."

- Romans 8:1-2 (MSG)

"So what do we do? Keep on sinning so God can keep on forgiving? I should hope not! If we've left the country where sin is sovereign, how can we still live in our old house there? Or didn't you realized we packed up and left there for good? That is what happened in baptism. When we went under water, we left the old country of sin behind; when we came up out of the water, we entered into the new country of grace- a new life in a new land!

That's what baptism into the life of Jesus means. When we are lowered into the water, it is like the burial of Jesus; when we are rasied up out of the water, it is like the resurrection of Jesus. Each of us is raised into a light-filled world by our Father so that we can see wherre we're going in our new grace-sovereign country.

Could it be any clearer? Our old way of life was nailed to the cross with Christ, a decisive end to that sin-miserable life- no longer at sin's every beck and call! What we believe is this: If we get included in Christ's sin-conquering death, we also get included in his life-saving resurrection. We know when Jesus was raised from the dead it was a signal of the end of the death-as-the-end. Neve again will death have the last word. When Jesus died, he took sin down with him, but alive he brings God down to us. From now on, think of it this way: Sin speaks a dead language that means nothing to you; God speaks your mother tongue, and you hang on every word. You are dead to sin and alive to God. That's what Jesus did."

-Romas 6:1-11 (MSG)
