“There all done. Now here he’s to take one every six hours. By late afternoon tomorrow he should be as good as new.” Said the doctor as he packed his things. He was done? I didn’t feel a thing.
“Come on, let’s get you to bed.” Megan said pulling me up on my feet. When she realized what she said she blushed a bit.
“I know what you meant.” I said enjoying the blushing. She looked so innocent when she blushed. I made a mental note to make Megan blush more often. As she helped me stand from the chair Julia and Ferris were coming up the stairs.
“Is he alright?” Julia asked. Nodding Megan told her what the doctor said. Heading back down the stairs Ferris said he’d grab my things.
“Next time pay more attention to the game. Ginger has no hand eye coordination.” Julia laughed following behind Ferris. We stood on the covered porch waiting for them to return with my stuff when Megan turned to me.
“What were you looking at to be so distracted?” I hadn’t planned to tell her I was checking her out but there really wasn’t any other excuse I could use. We were the only ones in our area. I wasn’t reading a book or anything. Everyone saw me watching the game… or at least looking in that direction.
“You’ll get mad if I tell you.” I said. Taking my hand Megan squeezed my fingers.
“Try me.” She said leaning in closer until she caught my eye.
“I wasn’t watching the game.” Chuckling Megan’s smile turned into a grin.
“That part was very much evident.” She said. Looking back to the stairs I inhaled.
“I was watching… you. I know I shouldn’t have been but I couldn’t help myself. I’m sorry if I offended you in anyway it’s just that I like you and I don’t mean to be disrespectful I know you’re with Sean but I couldn’t help—“ Her hand went to the uninjured side of my face. Just that movement silenced me.
“I like that you were watching me… I was watching you too.” She said her voice had gotten soft and sensual. I swallowed hard searching her face my eyes skimming across her lips every couple seconds. Finally I leaned over until we were breathing each other’s air. She’d let her eyelids close and her lips part slowly.
‘DO IT!’ My conscious yelled. I felt my lips brush against hers when I heard an audible gasp. Both Megan and I turned to see Ferris and Julia standing there. Ferris had his hand over Julia’s mouth but we both heard her.
“Sorry… we’ll be going now.” Ferris said placing my blanket and bag on the flower lined wall. Julia stood there looking like a deer in headlights. When Ferris gave her a tug she started giggling.
“GO FOR IT!!” Julia yelled out as Ferris dragged her back to the beach. I looked to Megan to see her trying not to smile.
“I’m so sorry I never—“I was in the middle of apologizing when Megan’s lips crushed into mine. I may be hard of hearing right now but I’m not stupid. Pulling her close I kissed her back. Her lips were like candy so sweet and soft. It felt like we were falling when I realize we were actually falling. If she hadn’t caught us we both we have ended up on the ground.
