Violet walked into the room after school.

"Bradley was back today," she said, "he's in a boot now."

"Oh."

"He asked about you."

I stiffened.

"I told him you weren't feeling well."

I relaxed.

Violet was quiet for a moment and then got up and left then room.

She returned with a tub of Ben and Jerry's ice cream.

"Ice Cream and Chick Flicks tonight, and shopping tomorrow," she suggested.

"Shopping," I groaned.

"I need a dress for the Mistletoe Dance."

I sat straight up, ignoring the pain in the side.

"Who asked you?"

"Cody," she blushed.

We collectively squealed.

"Why did he wait so long to ask you? The dance is tomorrow night."

"He asked me last week. I never got to tell you because you were kind of in a car accident and then Cooper... Anyway I just didn't tell you. And I haven't had time to get a dress."

"I'm so sorry V."

"It's not your fault."

"I know, but... Ice cream tonight. Dress shopping tomorrow."

"Great."
