Chapter 25 - All is lost?

Chapter 24: Kelsey couldn't do much to stop Nathan's mother from taking Nathan back to the room to talk in private. All that Kelsey could hope was Tom to be back before something could happen. Kelsey couldn't help but ask herself, "is she bad news?"

Tom had been extremely happy. Finally things were going his way. He could finally feel happiness knocking at his door again. On one hand, he was engaged with his long term girlfriend Kelsey and on the other hand, he had finally gotten a way to get rid of his brother's insecurities and secure his future.

As he made his way back home, Tom had been unaware of the brewing tensions there. But as soon as he stepped inside, he could feel that tension was all around. The boys had returned. Max was pacing the floor. Jay looked close to tears. Siva sat alone, looking very worried. Nareesha sat next to Kelsey who was already in tears. Tom could feel that something bad had happened.

"Where's Nathan?" Was the first thing that Tom asked. He couldn't see his brother among the rest and it was worrying him. "Tom, I think you should sit down..." Max trailed off, but Tom cut him off. "No more lies, Max. You know that I can't handle lies again." Tom stated. "Your mum came when we were not here." Siva said. "She took Nathan away, Tom" Jay finally spoke. "What?" Tom asked, shocked. "She took him away, Tom. I couldn't stop her. Nathan himself said he wanted to go with her." Kelsey said, clinging to Tom's arm. "What do you mean you couldn't stop her?" Tom asked, brushing Kelsey's hand off his arm. "He himself said he wanted to go with his mum" Kelsey confessed. "That cannot be possible. Nathan will never go with her. He himself said that he doesn't ever want to go back." Tom said. "We were here when he said he wants to go with her" Max said. Tom couldn't believe what he was hearing.

When Nathan saw his mum, he knew things couldn't be good if she was here. Nathan wanted to refuse when his mother asked if they could talk in private but Nathan knew better than to refuse but the moment his mother closed the door and took a seat across him, Nathan knew things weren't good. "Nath, I'm going to get straight to the point. Your father and I want you to come back home. Not home really. Your father wants you to go live with your grandparents. Look, we took this decision for your brother mainly. Tom got engaged, we heard. Now that he is starting a new life, don't you think, you need to cut him some slack?" Lena, Nathan's mother asked. This was not something new for Nathan. He himself felt like he was a burden over his big brother. And now that Tom has Kelsey in his life and soon they'll want to have a family together, Nathan will be nothing than a big hurdle in his brother's life. Nathan considered his mother's option but quickly found himself nodding as he remembered that he had already created enough problems for his brother. He might as well free him now. "Okay" Nathan said, taking up the offer.

Sitting on the couch, Tom sighed loudly as he tried to blink back tears. He looked at the papers in his hands and couldn't help but think that he had maybe failed his brother. "What's that?" Jay asked. "I was going to adopt him" Tom said as he let the tears flow freely this time. "Oh Tom" Max sighed as he pulled Tom in a hug. "All is not lost, Tom. Call the boy. Find out where he is. Get him back." Siva said. Tom nodded as he let the boys pull him in a group hug.

Maybe all wasn't lost. Maybe Tom could still fix up his happy family again but for that they needed their little one back again. And Tom would do anything to bring him back.
