I feel as if my mind has drifted to a distant place, but my body seems to keep moving forward even though I don't want to push onward. Now, I stand in front of the two masked men who are about 7 ft. tall even though I wish to escape their and the crowds watchful eyes, I'm to scared to avoid going.
With my last thread of courage nearly dismissed I strain my head up to look at the aliens and to my surprise they great my gaze with their's. The black bug eyes of their mask cast deep into my soul, then after their inspection on me they gaze back up to look at the crowd of military personnel. I numbly peek at the crowd as well, but I immediately whip my head back down at my feet as I perceive the sensation of tears threatening to escape my eyes. Why does the world have to be dying? How come I was drawn?! Why me?
"Jillian Rosanne Carter?" The alien on the left side of the door asks in a thick unknown accent.
I take a large gulp, then whisper,"Yes. That's me."
He no longer exerts his words to me, and says,"She, Jillian Rosanne Carter, now belongs to The Empire of Xileons and will now obey by our laws and regulations rather than yours." I can tell that the crowd doesn't care about my rights or anything, only that humans aren't on the extinction list.
"Follow us then," the other alien says turning on his heel to make his way inside the humongous craft. I file in after his long strides and then comes in behind us is the additional alien. I don't need to look behind me as I hear a low bang and click as I can tell the door has sealed me from the outside world. Sealed me from my home.
With my nerves and thinking taking over the majority of what I comprehend, I almost slam into one of The Others. He spins around to look at me then lumbers on down to my stubby height.
"We apologize for our rude actions back there, but we are not suppose to interact with other earthlings. Our orders are strictly to get you and report back to the Lorain. Lorain is our hyper drive ship." I only nod in awe and hurt."Follow us now."
I do. I mimic their instructions as we follow on through a maze of hallways and rooms. The ship is so tremendously big and even the aliens who work on it are so tall, that it's way to overwhelming for my delicate and tiny frame. Being on the ship makes me feel like I'm three-years old again.
After what felt like forever of marching through hallways, we stop in front of a transparent glass door that leads into a solid white room with a single bed resting inside. I pull Alexa's suitcase to my chest trying to comfort myself with the feeling that Alexa is here.
"This will be your room for now until we get to Lorain. We hope that it is quaint and fitting to your personality," says one The Others, punching a password into a code pad and holds open the door for me. This room is fit for my personality?
"Forgive us for not introducing ourselves before, but my given name is Hawii, and this is Qui." He points to the other alien, Qui.
Instead of speaking with them I just walk into my room that is now a mint green (my favorite color), an identical white bed frame that's in my room at the apartment (where the plain bed sat), a matching nightstand, an aged armoire that looks similar to the one my grandmother gave me, and a bookshelf that's about my size is filled with books, like the Harry Potter series to The Hunger Games trilogy. I slowly spin around the room in amazement and familiarity of how it looks just like my room back home.
"We will leave you be for now and will be back when we are prepared for launch."
I nod still standing plastered in the middle of the room. Remember Jillian this isn't your home, it's just The Others trying to get you under their wing, and probably manipulate you into thinking your lucky you get to live.
My fingertips trace the bindings of the books as I view each and every detail of my "room". Even the carving of my name that I put into the side of armoire is a clone of the one back home. It's actually kind of creepy-stocker like. From top to bottom the room looks like a replica, except for some important valuables of mine (which I packed) and a miniscule camera lens in a book called, Fahrenheit 451, poking out-of-place from the rest the books. What the heck? Their watching me? Maybe that's how they know so much about me, because they have been watching me at home. They probably already knew more about me before my name was even drawn!
I quickly throw my suitcase on the bed then grab my dirty bear, and finally I slide down to the floor embracing my childhood toy that seemed to have gotten lost in my life as I got older, but now it only comforted me. I have tomorrow to worry about my future, but for now I will cherish what I have fresh in my memories.

"My name is Aavet Carmen Evenstad, and I'm from Oslo, Norway. You're Jillian Carter from Toronto right?" Asks Aavet in a strong Norwegian accent, as she joins me at a dinning table in a room I guess is a cafeteria. About two hours ago we arrived on Lorain and then all 10 of us were escorted to this room. Now, we just sit here getting to know each other.
"Nice to meet you Aavet, and ya, that's me," I say tugging on my new clothes the Xileons gave me. I now wear a thin, stiff piece of cloth that resembles a hospital gown, rather then my cozy sweater and relaxing leggings. All the other girls wear the same thing and as well as the boys too. It's sooo uncomfortable I might just bang my head against a wall!
"None of the other girls acknowledged me when I tried to make conversation. How rude, huh?"
"Uh... ya."
Aavet sighs then says,"Your not in much of a talking mood either, huh?"
I don't want to lie to her first thing so I tell her,"Not really. I just kind of zone out when I'm upset or down." How can she not be balling her eyes out right now?
"That's ok. I never really had anyone to rely on or trust back home, so this is like 50 times better then what I experienced in my whole life"
I tried to give her a grin, but my face feels too frozen to tell if I actually pulled it off. Aavet reaches across the cool metal table then holds my hands in hers. The touch makes me retort a smidge in surprise by her comforting ora. She reminds me of Alexa.
"It's ok to show that your upset, Jillian. Deep down we're all suffering, just that some people show it more than others." Aavet tells me.
She's right. We're all suffering, but when we're forced to abandon our only home we've known for so long and leave all our love ones to die, kills apart of you that you'll never get back.
