*Claire's PoV*

When I heard voices approaching, I quickly hid behind a tree and pulled the stake out. I didn't know why I bothered in making an attempt to protect myself because there was a high chance that these people weren't human. I knew I was going to die, but I had to try right?

I let a silent tear fall as the voices were only a short distance away. I could hear their conversation.

"Winter! You almost got us killed!" A woman said.

"I did not. We almost died because we were outnumbered. Stop blaming me! We were ambushed remember?"

"Girls, stop fighting now." A man said in a deep voice I didn't like.

And then I heard silence. My heart begin to throb violently inside my chest. I thought they knew I was here until he spoke once more.

"Look at the woods."

I quickly peeked my head and seen them look around in shock.

"What happened?" They said in unison.

"I don't know, but I sense something...someone powerful. She's here. Stay here you two."

Then I heard the footsteps coming closer and closer. So close that I knew he was on the other side of the tree I was hiding behind. I could smell the death radiating from him and it made me sick. I gripped the stake so tightly my knuckles turned white.

I slowly looked over my left shoulder seeing the side of his face. I gulped. He wasn't facing me so I drove the stake to any available spot.

The man stumbled backwards when I stabbed him in the shoulder and I ran for my life.

"What the hell?!" He screeched.

"There she is!" The girls screamed.

When I looked back the man was hunched over grimacing as he begin to pull the stake out.

"Don't just stand there Winter and Isidora help me catch her!"

When I looked back again, the man was running after me and was closing the distance between us. I began to cry. I can't do this, I can't! How am I supposed to run away when I'm pregnant?!

Now I was just wishing that I stayed in the hospital. I think I'm going to either pass out or be sick. But I didn't want to die! As soon as I thought that I was grabbed and then slammed against a tree.

I put my hands up in fright, "P-please don't k-kill me!"

He laughed mockingly.

"Please don't...hurt me!" I begged once more.

He threw his head back and then chuckled.

"I heard you the first time."

The man made eye contact with me and that's when I knew he wasn't human. His eyes were like a cat's, with the narrow pupil except his eyes were a dark red. The fright that I was going to die made me feel so dizzy, I passed out. If I was going to die I was glad I wouldn't be conscious.

When I awoke, I saw the midnight sky with a myriad of little white stars. Am I dead? I quickly sat up and and scanned my surroundings. I pinched myself to make sure this wasn't a dream, but all I felt was the sting. I was still in the woods and a small fire was burning a few feet away from me. How did I get here?

" I didn't want to startle you when you woke up." A man maybe a year or two older than I appeared from the woods.

I screamed and he put his hands up.
