"I cant believe you Steve! This is the third time you've blown me off for work!", i yelled at him. He was just as angry. "Obviously, you dont understand the need of money!", he yelled back. "I understand fine. I have a job too. A job i've never went to when i knew i had a date with you!", i fired back. "You know what? I dont need this. Im leaving", he said, going for the door. I couldnt help but feel sad, or keep it off my face. I choked out, "Good riddance!", but didnt really mean it. He slammed the door and stormed away.
I sat on the couch, but i couldnt concentrate. I felt sick to my stomach. Steve and i never fight. I needed to go find him. I got up and opened the door, and went out. It was breezy, and cold as i walked the streets of Tulsa. It was pushing nine o clock. I held my arms and continued to look. Where could he be? Maybe he's at the Curtis'. I could look there, but i know his friends wouldnt be happy if i turned up there. They dont like me much.
I heard a car engine rumble next to me. I looked over to see a Corvair parking. A couple boys got out and came over to me. "Whats a girl like you doing out this late?", one asked. "I... i was just going home", i said shakily. "Why dont you come with us?", the other said. "No thanks", i said. They werent taking no for an answer. One of them punched me in the face, and i was out cold.
Steves pov
I was walking over to the Curtis'. But i couldnt shake the fight i just had with (Y/N). She seemed so sad when i said i was gonna leave. I did that on purpose too because i knew her fear of being alone. Im a terrible person. I turned around and started running back to (Y/N)s and my house. But as i got closer to home, i noticed someone laying on the ground. Oh my god. Thats (Y/N)!
I ran over and picked her up carefully. She was out cold. Its all my fault. I should have known she would try to cone find me. I carried her to our house and laid her on our bed. I tried to take care of her as best i could, but i not good at that stuff. Darry is. Maybe i should call him and take her over there...
Soon she started to stir. "(Y/N) are you ok?", i asked immediately. "I.. im fine. Steve, when did you get home?", she asked. "You got jumped and i found you. Im so (Y/N). Its all my fault", i said. She didnt say anything, so i continued. "I didnt do a very good job of taking care of you, so i thought i would take you to the Curtis' so Darry could-" "No!" I looked at her confused. "Why not?", i asked. "Nothing. They just.. just dont like me." Now i was angry with my friends. How dare they make her think they dont like her. But they would have to pay later.
I ahd something i needed to do. "Ok, so how about we go later. But for now, how about i take you on that date?", i asked. She smiled. "I'd love too."
