“Pretty please.” He said. Taking the blindfold I fingered the material. Pure silk. Looking to Micah I smiled.
“What’s up?” At first he looked confused then shocked. Finally when it wore off he looked scared.
“What do you mean?” He asked. Placing the blindfold on my knee I turned to him and waited. He sat there his eyes darting to everything but looking at me.
“Can you please just put on the blindfold Declan?” He finally asked. Shaking my head I propped my elbow on the sill of the window and stared straight into his face.
“Something is wrong with you. It’s in the way you’re moving, the way you’re talking or should I say the lack of talking. We’ve never been in your car and have had the radio on because we usually talk to one another. I may have been in a coma but I’m not stupid. Something is bothering you and I want to know what the fuck it is.” Finally Micah did something. He threw open the door and climbed out. Pacing back and forth for a moment he let out a startling scream. Climbing out myself I leaned against the car as he stood there eyes closed.
“I don’t know how to treat you. I don’t want to be the one who breaks you… I’m trying to be like nothing happened but something did happen. He almost killed you and I don’t know…” So this was the reason why he was acting so strange. He was afraid to be himself because Todd had hurt me. He was afraid he’d hurt me too.
“Are you going to poison me with hazardous drugs that will cause me to go into a coma then die?” I asked him. His eyes came to mine within a second of me asking the question.
“HELL NO!” He yelled. Smiling I climbed back into the car.
“Well then I don’t have anything to worry about do I.” I said. After a moment Micah climbed back in the car.
“You’re so dramatic sometimes.” He said.
“I’m dramatic?” Rolling his eyes he put the car into gear only to take it out of gear.
“Put the blindfold on.” He said. I thought maybe he’d forget about the blindfold but I wasn’t that lucky. Once it was in place and he was satisfied I couldn’t see we zoomed off. It was weird riding in a car with a blindfold on. I leaned my head against the head rest and tried to think of all the places we could be going. I don’t know how long we drove but I felt myself dosing off.
“Wake up.” Micah chuckled. Sitting up I turned to his voice.
“Are we there yet?” I could hear the smile in his voice when he told me we were. I was about to snatch off that blindfold when he stopped me.
“Not yet.” I sat patiently or semi patiently as I heard voices whispering around me. No matter how hard I tried to hear them I couldn’t catch any of their words. Finally my door opened and I felt Micah’s hand take mine. Guiding me from the car he led me away.
“You better not let me fall.” I whispered. I didn’t know who was around. Laughing Micah wrapped his arm around my waist.
“If you fall we’ll go together.” He said. I felt a quiver in my stomach. Those damn butterflies again. I swear their everywhere. By the time we reached our destination I was like a kid on Christmas. I was ready. There was a jingle of a key then I felt the air in front of me. Letting me go Micah’s fingers tugged at the blindfold. Slowly he pulled the strings away until it fell from my eyes. I’d kept my eyes closed a second longer before opening them. It was like we’d been transported to the islands.
