Chapter 3 ~ A kidnap of curiosity

''We'll figure it out.'' He promised her as she stood so vulnerable in front of the mirror. He dared to approach her, stand next to her and glance right into her eyes through the mirror. ''It is going to be okay.''

They stood there, simply looking at one another. They didn't smile, they didn't glance. They just looked. Observing the features of the other but not judging it. Both were trying to get into the minds of the other, hungry for a taste of what they were thinking.

Walking back in silence, Stiles tried to figure out the cause of the puke that had come out of her petite body. The smell that had surrounded him in the bathroom was much stronger than it should have been and that worried Stiles even more.

''What if I end up in the woods tomorrow again? You can't just continue finding me for the rest of your lives.'' Nova sighed softly, feeling the boy next to her tense up whenever she spoke.

Making their way past a vending machine, Stiles stopped walking a few feet further before he jogged back to the vending machine. Throwing in a few quarters, he pressed two numbers before he looked sideways at Nova.

''You want anything?'' He asked politely, but she rejected his sweet offer.

Once the two returned, Melissa was already waiting for them. The nurse looked up in awe at seeing the red eyes of the girl. The smell that hang around Nova was also quite unavoidable, it helped Melissa understand more of what had happened.

''You should go home Stiles. I can see that your eyelids are about to drop close.'' Nova chuckled as she sat on the bed. For the past hour Stiles had stayed with her. She believed it was because he wanted to keep her company, but really Stiles stayed there because he wanted to ask Nova about her family.

He indeed was tired, exhausted even. Running through the preserve for so long had definitely caused that. But Stiles was too curious for the possible answers that he could get from her. He felt so intrigued to figure out this little mystery around her.

''Thanks for staying with me, though.'' She added, scared to come off as rude or as if she hadn't enjoyed his company. Quietly Nova watched Stiles get up from the bed. He started walking towards her door but she stopped him. ''Hold on, fist bump me first.''

She fold her hand into a fist and extended it towards Stiles, who looked over his shoulder to see the adorably exhausted girl waiting for such a simple handshake. He walked back, closer to the bed before he made his fist touch hers.

''Swoosh.'' She whispered, even more tired than the second before as she pulled her fist back and waved it through the air. Stiles smiled widely as she did so.

''Whoosh.'' He repeated her, mimicking her actions before he backed off to the door. ''See you tomorrow, Nova.'' But when he looked back, she had already fallen asleep.

Stiles rushed home, immediately going upstairs to sit behind his laptop. Starting it up, he opened several translation sites. Right then he couldn't care less about it being midnight, he couldn't care less about the lack of sleep he would have tomorrow. He needed to do research. Just to make sure he wouldn't wake up his father, Stiles pushed every letter softly as he slowly created two words. Two names. Nova Klein. He had found her surname on one of the many papers Melissa had carried with her.

Yes, not even the Sheriff could find a thing about Nova but Stiles wasn't his father. Stiles knew more about reality than his father. So instead of searching for 'real information', Stiles searched for possible clues to her identity.

He tried translating it, he searched the meaning of it. These odds things that had happened within two days had all been around her- She had to be a part of it. She had to be something supernatural because how else could you explain what has been happening? She couldn't be a human, she would never even be able to survive that pain Scott had described if she was 'just human'.
