“Oh thank GOD… she read the instructions… I feel soooo much safer now.” Sticking out her tongue Ginger followed close behind.
“Smart Ass.”
Mr. Phillips POV:
I briefed the team on the situation at hand. Captain didn’t like that Micah would be going in but he understood the necessity of it. I watched Jess outfit Micah with a remote wire that would link him to the mobile audio unit. I listened as he explained the controls to Micah. The cool and calm look of Micah’s face made me think of me. Nothing but sheer determination… the want and desire to bring this Todd down once and for all.
“He’s you in the beginning of your career.” Captain said to me. I couldn’t help the pride I felt.
“I can’t take all the credit. He’s mom has a lot to do with that.”
After Jess was finished Captain began instructing Micah on what he needed to know. It was one thing to see a fellow officer go into a hostile situation. It was something totally different to witness your only son. We pulled up to the access road three miles from the cabin. From there we went on foot. There was no rush, from what Micah told us Todd would wait there forever if need be. When the cabin came in sight I stopped Micah and pulled him into a hug.
“Don’t be a hero… let us take care of him and don’t get dead.” Nodding Micah took a deep breath and started for the cabin. With each step he took my panic rose.
“Breathe Lieutenant.” Captain said over the com link. Taking a breath I made my heart slow down. Nothing would help Micah if I started panicking. I had to keep my head in the game. By the time he made it to the front door of the cabin I’d regained my calm. Taking my position I set up my sniper rifle and waited.
Todd’s POV:
“Todd?” I stood there bursting with happiness as Micah pushed the cabin door open. He looked so handsome standing there. I wanted to run to him but I remained where I was. I wasn’t going to push him like I did the last time. I wanted this time to be special… to be real.
“Micah… I knew you’d come. Look I fixed the cabin up… so we can go back to our first time.” Closing the door behind him Micah surveyed his surroundings. I watched as he swallowed hard. I bet he was nervous… Lord knows I am.
“Todd…. We aren’t going to be together.” He said. He looked sort of uncomfortable so I motioned to the sofa which he ignored.
“Yes we are. I’ve made sure of it.” Cocking his head to the side Micah wore a confused look on his face. Oh… he was so cute I could just eat him up.
“What do you mean you made sure of it?” Taking a seat on the sofa I leaned back and gave Micah a lustful stare.
“Don’t be silly Micah… I finally understand what went wrong the first time.” I wanted him to sit with me but he wouldn’t move from that spot. Sitting up I tried to give him a relaxed smile.
“What went wrong?” He asked. I wasn’t going to answer him at first but decided why not. It’s not like knowing this information would change what I’ve done. I know by now Declan is dead and gone.
“I didn’t use a medium to chemically bind the two compounds. It’s why it made you so sick the last time. “ I said. I could see him trying not to remember what happened the last time he’d come to the cabin. I didn’t blame in the least. I was an animal to him the last time.
