Lizzie uttered a gasp, stumbling backward and landing on her butt on the ground, when she closed her locker to see a face grinning widely at her.

Alice laughed and offered her hand to her. "Whoops, sorry. I didn't mean to startle you."

Lizzie ignored the hand and stood, eyeing her suspiciously. "What do you want from me?" She asked coldly.

"To talk," replied the other girl. "I told you already, I'm much better company than those two dingbats."

"Two dingbats?"

"Yeah. Baldy and Scar." Alice shifted her books in her arms. "Well, that's what I call them anyway."

"You seem like you don't like them," Lizzie observed.

Alice frowned, suddenly very serious. "I hate them."

The bell rang then, and Lizzie turned to look at the clock. When she turned back, Alice was gone.
