None of this made sense anymore. Has my life always been set up to be so miserable? Did I not deserve to be happy or loved? I shook my head.

'No Claire this isn't your fault. No one will have my heart ever again nor my trust. I'm tired of getting stepped on.'

I wiped my tears when I heard something in the distance.

I stood up and scanned the area. It was a long distant howl. I picked my things up and quickly continued to walk quickening my pace if even the slightest wind blew. After what I believe to be an hour or two of walking, the noise faded and darkness clung to the thick air.

I had begun to get sleepy so I needed to stop. I found a small area of land that had large patches of grass missing. I threw my bag on the ground which served as my pillow and slept. Before I curled up beneath the midnight sky, I made a small prayer.

"Dear God, please protect the baby and I and let our journey be a safe one. Please grant Damien a peaceful night as well. He needs it from everything he has gone through. I pray for all of the friends I left behind too. Amen!"

I figured I'd pray for everyone including Damien. Despite the fact that I was running away from him, I still prayed for him; he needed. Every now and then everyone deserved to be prayed for no matter how awful they were-are. I just hoped everything would be okay tonight for everyone.

The next morning it was sunny and there was not a cloud in the sky. It was amazing how I even managed to sleep last night with all the bugs crawling on my skin and hair at times.

I quickly picked up my bag and picked a direction to walk in. I didn't know where this Forbidden Town was so I don't think picking a direction mattered as long as I kept walking. After a few minutes of walking my stomach growled. I was hungry.

I looked in my bag to find some type of food or water, but there was none.

"Mitri forgot to give me food." I sighed, "Guess I'm on my own."

What did I expect, he was a vampire and he needed blood to survive, not food. I guess it was very easy for him to forget that I needed such simple things. It didn't matter, I could manage with scavenging.

After a while, I spotted a few blueberry bushes and apple trees that were just waiting for someone to eat them so I helped myself. I plucked greedy amounts of the blueberries and shoved them into my bookbag. Sighing in slight defeat when I raised my head and looked up at the tall apple trees, I contemplated on how I could get them.

"How the hell am I supposed to get up there?" I pondered really wanting an apple.

After a few moments of scanning the area, I found a large, sturdy log that I positioned under the tree. I softly stepped on it making it slightly begin to wiggle. I raised my hand up to reach the apple that hung the lowest.

I extended my hand towards the apple and the log wobbled. I almost lost my balance, but once I maintained steady ground I tried again. Reaching for the apple had been useless since my hand was two inches away from the branch. After a few attempts of reaching for the apple I retreated my hand and stepped off the log in defeat.

I looked up at the apple tree and screamed, "Why can't you just fall already, dammit!"

Then all of a sudden, something magical happened. I had no idea if it was coincidence or something I did, but it was frightening.

When I screamed at the tree it shook wildly as if it was cowering away from me. I cocked my head to the side and watched angrily. Why was I so angry?! I didn't know, but I felt as if the tree was disobeying me and the angrier I got, the fiercer the tree shook.

The tree twisted so powerfully that branches snapped everywhere out of control. Not a single branch hit me even though I stood in front of it. Shrapnel should have fell on me but instead flew around me as if I was protected by a barrier. After a short period of the tree twisting painfully, every apple from the tree thudded to the ground.

There were apples crowding the bark of the tree and as I stooped to pick an apple up, thunder crashed loudly. I uncontrollably cowered and closed my eyes from the sudden fright. Once the thunder ended I rose my head and gasped.

Every apple tree in the woods were twisted and barren as apples covered the forest. I scratched my head in confusion.

"Something really strange is going on."

Nonetheless, I stooped over to pick up a few apples. I had to make sure that I could still travel without feeling like I was dragging myself along.

Once I picked up the juiciest apple I could find, my stomach growled and I took a bite. It was by far the sweetest apple I have ever tasted and I felt a sudden urge of energy coming from my hands. When I looked down, I dropped the remaining piece of the apple.

On my hands yellow steaks that looked similar to lightning were traveling quickly across my hands.

"What the hell?!" I said trying to shake off the streaks to no avail.

My hands begin to tingle as the streaks began to form letters. I watched in fright.

/We have chose you as our leader. You are the chosen one and don't be afraid./

Chosen? What did that mean and who was this "we"? Before I could question these thoughts, I heard something, voices and there was more than one.
