"Guys, get out," I pointed to the door. With collective sighs, they both stood up and trudged out of the room and I felt my heat beating against my chest as I sat back in front of the screen. "How are you?"

Christopher nodded. "I'm good. I'm trying to quit smoking."

I felt a grin spreading across my face. "That's great! I'm so happy for you! Did you get the kangaroo?"

He gave a nod as he lifted the familiar kangaroo into sight. "Yep, here it is. I see you're wearing the necklace I bought you for your birthday," he pointed out, staring at the necklace. I clutched the necklace in an unconscious gesture of nostalgia.

"Yeah, I promised, didn't I?" I replied, allowing my eyes to scan his face. He looked better, if that made any sense. "Anyone new in your life?"

He snorted as his eyes moved to something off screen. "No."

I tried not to smile. "Oh. I miss you."

He nodded quite uncomfortably. "Uh, thanks," he muttered.

I rolled my eyes. "It's okay to miss me back."

"Fine. I miss you," he admitted and I tried not to grin as I nodded. Did you hear that? He just admitted he misses me. Oh my gosh.

"Oh," I muttered, holding back a squeal.

"I mean, it's hard not to miss you. We were living with each other, you know?" he rambled.

"Christopher, we were friends at one point. It's okay to miss me because of that."

"Were?" he raised his eyebrows.

"Are," I corrected with grin, watching as he nodded in satisfaction. "How's Mason?" I queried.

Christopher looked surprised at the sudden question. "Uh, he's good, I guess."

I nodded. "Tell him I say hi." I've already Skyped Delina and Adam, so there's no need to speak about them now. "So what's up?"

"Guess what?"

My eyebrows furrowed. "What?"

"Madrena cheated on Caleb," he informed me with raised eyebrows and I felt mine shooting up.

"Are you serious?" I laughed, finding amusement in such a thing. "What is wrong with this girl?"

Christopher shrugged. "I don't talk to her anymore, so," he shrugged once again. "And even though I'm not on the best of terms with Caleb, I hope he's okay."

I grinned. "Aw, look at you. Being so nice and kind," I cooed.

"I'm trying to be like you," he told me with a little smile on his face.

I blushed. "Right. Have you spoken to Caleb?"

"No," he shook his head. "He moved away."

"Oh," I frowned, dragging my eyes to the keyboard.

"Daniella I,—" Christopher cut himself off by sighing aloud in annoyance. "Mom! I'm busy." He groaned aloud and I smiled in amusement as I heard his mother berate him.

My eyes strayed to the clock and I found myself sighing. "You obviously need to go. I'll see you later, okay?"

He frowned, looking upset. "Okay." After exchanging our goodbyes, I shut the laptop and smiled.

I still like him.

The first day of school.

A day almost every student around the world dreads.

"I hardly got any sleep yesterday night," Charlotte beside me grumbled as she hiked her bag further up her shoulders.
