Chapter 12

"Life isn't fair!" Delina whined. "I wanted to come, too! Parents ruin everything, I swear," she grumbled, folding her arms across her chest.

I provided a small laugh as I kept one hand on the suitcase. "It's fine, Delina. I'll see you in a week."

Just then, Christopher came walking by and pushed past me as Adam popped up from behind Delina. "I'll miss you guys," he told me and I felt a smile spreading across my face.

"It's just a week. I'm sure you guys can live," I rolled my eyes.

Jasmine huffed. "Whatever. Go enjoy your time in Sydney," she smiled, pushing me. I stumbled back a few steps and smiled faintly.

"Okay, see you guys in a week!" I called after them, casting them a wave. They all stood against the door and waved in unison, that is, until Adam accidentally thumped Delina against the head, thus inducing a heated argument.

I sighed at their antics and carried my suitcase towards the cab that was waiting for us. Our parents decided to split us up into two separate cars, and just for the sake of enjoying the trip, I hoped to God that I wouldn't be stuck with Christopher. It was enough sharing a seat with him on the plane, let alone, sitting beside him on an hour car ride to the airport.

Since it was Christopher's term break, he had a two week holiday and ostensibly planned to spend it lazing around and playing video games. Though, his mother had another plan in mind, hence why we were currently on a trip to Sydney.

Climbing into the car, I traced out a quiet sigh and glimpsed at Christopher beside me. Unfortunately, he sat beside me. "Aren't you excited?" I queried.

He shrugs. "Not really, no."

Yet again, I hadn't got enough sleep yesterday that would fuel me enough energy for the day, which was why I decided to sleep. Resting my head against the window, I shut my eyes and attempted to drown out the obnoxious voices of my mother and Lauren.

"Get up, Daniella," a voice grunted in a snippy tone. I shuffled around in my seat and my eyes popped open, greeting me with the sight of a disgruntled looking Christopher.

"What?" I croaked out as my eyes roved around the empty car. "Where am I?"

"In Mars."

Rolling my eyes at his typical sarcastic response, I hiked my bag further up my shoulder and squinted. "We're already at the airport?" I questioned, disbelief lacing my tone.

"Yes, genius," he rolled his eyes and opened the door wider. "We'd appreciate it if you come outside now. We're going to be late."

I was seemingly too stunned to reply, surprised by the fact that Christopher had the door opened for me. And here I was thinking that he was the epitome of a condescending jerk, when in reality, he had his moments. Though, my reverie was soon eradicated, as Christopher slammed the door in my face.

Wow.

Forget I even mentioned the fact that he wasn't a condescending jerk. He is, in fact, a jerk.
