Ballet is its own form of medicine
The adrenaline rush on stage
Hours focusing on counts and steps
Pointing toes until they almost
B r e a k
Gentle stretches in between
Soft barre music
Mends broken hearts
For a while at least
Elegant turns and complicated combos
Disremember the stress for a moment
Dramatic leaps and death-defying roles
Pound out anger
Like the sound of a gun-shot
As new pointe shoes crash to the ground
In a grand jeté
And that is why
I come here everyday
And practice
For the company of my dreams
As we travel and perform
Spreading what I love most
