Sixteen - Our girls can fight

Start from the beginning

"I don't dance," he laughs.

"I have a video of you doing the chicken dance. Trust me. You dance."

"Ugh, please don't make me." he says.

"Too late," I say as I pull him up and take him to the dance floor just in time for the first verse to start.

We sway back in forth as my favorite song plays. He spins me as the whole world gets blocked out, and it honestly feels like it's just me and him. I never believed moments like this actually happened, but they do. They are so cliche, but so real.

"I wasn't lying," Shawn says, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"What?"

"When I said I liked you, I wasn't lying. You're more than just another girl to me. I wish your brother believed that though," Shawn shrugged.

"Give him some time," I say.

"How much?"

"You're his best friend. I'm his little sister. He's protecting me," I start. "He'll come around eventually. You just have to prove yourself."

"Anything for you," he smiles that wonderful smile of his before bringing me closer and kissing me.

I don't mean a little peck. I mean, we're making out in front of most of the school. Do I care? Hell no. His lips are heart eyes emoji.

When the song ends, we pull away, and I see Max glaring at me. Okay, really? I need to go talk to her.

"Hey, I'll be right back okay," I tell Shawn, walking towards Max.

"Cheyenne, if you need me, I'll be getting fresh air okay," Casey says from beside me.

When did she get there?

"Okay. Are you okay?"

"I don't know." I give her a questioning look which causes her to continue. "Aaron just kissed me."

"That's good though, right?"

"Yeah, but he's not supposed to like me. I'm me."

"Which is why he's supposed to," I say.

"Whatever. I just need some fresh air," she says and walks away.

My best friend needs me to calm her down, but I need to talk to Max. I look over at Max, but she's not there anymore. I guess that rules her out. Good. Casey needs the llama queen.

I walk outside of the gym and to the exit, but something pulls me down and the next thing I know I'm on the ground with pressure on my chest. Oh yeah, and pain in my head. I open my eyes to see Max on top of me. I try to push her off, but she pins my arms down.

"What the fuck," I scream.

"You honestly think I'd be friends with you again? Please! Not even for a million bucks," she laughs her bitchy laugh.

"What the hell," I scream, confused.

"Obviously, you're confused. Shawn broke up with me for you, but he was too scared to ask you out. I payed Carter to date me the break my heart, so I could get on your good sides. Then I lied, and I said I wasn't going to be here. That way I wouldn't have to get ready with you, and I wouldn't have to deal with you until now. My friends knew the plan, so they pretended to hate me. You caught up now?"

"Yeah. I am," I say as I free my right hand and punch her in the face. I throw her off of me and stand up.

"You honestly think Shawn still wants you? He's done with you, Max. Accept it and move on!"

"You fucking bitch," she says, getting up and attempting to tackle me.

Aaron is a football player; Shawn used to be. Growing up, I played football with them a lot. If she thinks she can honestly tackle me, she's wrong.

I dodge her, and I trip her before flipping her on her back, straddling her, and punching her. I get about 5 hits before she flips us over, so she's straddling me and tries to punch me. Before she can lay a hand on me, red hair jumps at her and pushes her off of me. There's my Casey. I stand up to see Casey punching the shit out of her, and I see her crying.

"Casey," I say, trying to pull her off of Max. "Casey. Casey! Casey, stop," I scream, finally pulling her off.

"Keep your ugly ass hands off of my best friend," Casey yells.

"Woah," I hear behind me. I snap my head towards the voice to see Shawn and Aaron (and a bunch of other people) staring at us and Max. "Damn," Shawn says. "Our girls can fight," Aaron finishes for him.

I chuckle as Casey and I walk to our dates and finish the night. We're going to be in so much trouble Monday, but it's worth it.

---

The night was pretty fun. The principal pulled Max, Casey, and I to the side and told us to meet him in his office Monday morning, but other than that, we didn't have any more problems.

At the moment, Shawn is driving me home. It's midnight, and the fight kind of tired me out. That's why I'm falling asleep on Shawn's arm. I don't think he minds though. If he does, oh well. He can deal with it.

"Chey," I hear him whisper.

"Hmm," I hum in response.

"We're here," he says, causing me to open my eyes.

I look around and see we are indeed at my house, and he's holding the car door open for me. When did he get over there?

I pick up my purse and step out of the car, leading him to the door. I turn around to see him extremely close. He leans in, and I copy his actions, kissing him.

"Hey Chey," he asks, not pulling away.

"Yeah?"

"Will you be my girlfriend?"

At that, I pull away. Is he serious?

"You break hearts, Shawn. You break them, and you don't even care," I start. "I really like you, but I do not want to set myself up for heartbreak."

"Is that a no," he asks.

"Will you break my heart?"

"Never. Breaking your heart would kill mine."

"Goodnight, boyfriend," I smile, kissing him once again.

"Goodnight, girlfriend."

And with that, I go inside, to my room, into comfortable clothes, and to my bed. Best night ever.
