Harry’s POV

“Wait!” I leaned over to grab the bill and stuffed my credit card in there. I saw Jessica’s eyes lighten up. “Son, take out your card and hand it over to me.” Her dad’s pretty intimidating, but not intimidating enough. “Sir, it’s not a big deal. Let me.” I showed him I really meant it and he said he owed me. “I’ll take you up on that offer.” I took the bill because I saw Jess’s hand slowly rising to get it before her dad. Money isn’t a problem for me. It’s just a thing. It’s a thing that can’t fix my mistakes or heal us. I know I was cruel; this was kind of my way of kind of reconciling, kind of. I’ve lived with Jess long enough to know she was drunk out of her mind and held her hand tightly as we left. We took one big picture before leaving, for the restaurant window, and Jessica’s mom took one too. Jessica kept leaning on me for support, but I was shocked that she looked so sober. Once we said our goodbyes, we walked to the car while valet opened the door for us. I was in faster than her, and was able to see the prick checking her out. Once she got in, I sped off.
