~THE LOUDEST TYPE OF SILENCE~ (free-form poem I wrote one night)
"Actions speak louder than words", but silence is the loudest.
We only speak half of our minds, and even less of what'a in our hearts.
Why is this?
Why are so many of us blocked by the dreadful barrier of silence?
We try so very hard to tell how we feel,
But yet we can never find the words.
When told something happy, we become so ecstatic
And answer aimply by saying "I'm speechless", which is true.
When learning of something terribly and tremendously sad
That all-too-familiar lump forms in our throats
Preventing the escape of any words at all.
When we get extremely angry, we sometimes lash out
Whether it is screaming or inflicting damage upon an object.
How we lash out varies among all the different people and situations,
But often times, we just hold the anger in and bottle it up.
No matter what speechless mood we're in, whether it's happy, sad, or angry
The most common way we respond is by crying.
And it seems as though no one has yet realized
That by crying, we are silently speaking
And the words are somehow flowing through our tears.
Our tears are the loudest type of silence.
