"Welcome back! Wow, I sound like a game show host." Dean laughed and the audience copied his action. "Now, here's another performance. You all might recognize her by now with her previous performances here at Open Mic Night, so without further ado, here's Alycia Taylor!" As he got off the stage, a tall blonde with curly hair tied up in a loose bun and excited blue eyes stepped onto the stage. One of the working baristas, Cam, followed her with a guitar strapped to his chest and sat down on one of the bar stools while she stood.
"Good evening!" Alycia greeted. She gestured to Melarni and Ivan. "Guys, that was an amazing performance earlier! The feels hit me hard!" Melarni shrunk in her seat while Jazmine nudged Ivan at the drink pick up area. "My name's Alycia and this is my guitarist Cam!" There was applause and then she mock whispered into the mic, "I had to pay him so he could do this, so bear with me!"
"Hey!" Cam exclaimed and the crowd laughed.
"Okay," Alycia turned to him with a smile, "let's do this." With that, Cam started strumming the chords to a beat and the blonde started moving her arms around in a dancing motion.
"There I was again tonight
Forcing laughter, faking smiles
Same old tired lonely place." She started, her voice calm and smooth, as if she was in a trance. Andrew glanced at Jazmine and Ivan. They were both patiently waiting for the drinks the male had ordered for the group.
"Walls of insincerity,
Shifting eyes and vacancy
Vanished when I saw your face.
All I can say is it was enchanting to meet you." Israel glanced at where Lisa and her group were sitting - they managed to get some seats on the couch - and sighed.
"Your eyes whispered, "Have we met?"
Across the room your silhouette
Starts to make its way to me
The playful conversation starts
Counter all your quick remarks
Like passing notes in secrecy." Andrew saw Erick get up from his seat and walk over to the phaser. He saw the girl look surprised but smiled when she saw him and the two struck up a conversation.
"And it was enchanting to meet you
All I can say is I was enchanted to meet you." Marissa glanced around, her mind wandering and her eyes drifting to the tables near the window. Her eyes locked with David's - had he been staring the whole time? - and she raised an eyebrow, a bored expression on her face. She saw him wink and wave at her. She rolled her eyes and averted her gaze back to Alycia.
"This night is sparkling, don't you let it go
I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
I was enchanted to meet you."
"She's pretty good," Julian whispered to Gen with a smile, "and the song's nice, don't you think?"
"Hm." Gen hummed as she shifted her eyes from Alycia to David and she followed his line of sigh. She raised an eyebrow. Why's he looking at her?
"The lingering question kept me up
2 AM, who do you love?
I wonder 'til I'm wide awake." Melarni unconsciously travelled her eyes to Ivan and a slow smile crept to her lips.
"And now I'm pacing back and forth
Wishing you were at my door
I'd open up and you would say, 'Hey,
It was enchanting to meet you,
All I know is I was enchanted to meet you.'"
Julian snuck a glance at Gen and sighed. Someday, Gen, someday.
"This night is sparkling, don't you let it go
