The white envelope, with the purple cursive letters.
He didn't care.
They were all placed in a small box, under his bed.
Some still unopened,
For he already knew what words lay inside the small envelopes.
There were eight letters,
Then nine, ten, eleven...
There were fifteen letters.
He counted.
Fifteen letters sent, all saying
I love youFifteen letters returned, all saying
I hate youHe didn't care.
Or... He thought he didn't care.
