Saige's POV
We got into Wesley's car and he started driving. The ride was silent at first. There was no music playing, we weren't talking, and the only sound being heard was coming from the heaters.
"We're going to a little studio that the guys and I recorded at a couple years back. I kind of have a second Christmas present there for you," he explained, breaking our silence.
"I can't wait! Is it a song?"
"You'll see," he winked, earning an eye roll from me. What else could be at a studio?
"You're lucky I'm pregnant, or else I would bribe you to tell me," I teased. He chuckled and opened his hand in the middle of us for me to hold it. I gladly put my soft hand into his warm, rough hand, and he gave it a little squeeze. He held it all the way to the studio.
He pulled into the parking lot and helped me out of his car even though I didn't really need it. He led me inside, guiding me with his hand on the small of my back.
He told me to take a seat outside the booth while he set everything up. I heard him call my name after a few minutes, so I went into the room with the booth. He handed me a pair of headphones and pulled a seat out for me to sit on. He pressed a button and walked into the booth.
"Can you hear me?" He said, making it echo into my headphones. I shot him a thumbs up. Drew and Keaton appeared from behind me and walked into the booth too. Pretty soon, music started to play. Wesley was smiling at me when Drew started to sing. I immediately recognized the song.
First winter's snowfall
Throwing backyard snowballs
Warming up by the fireplace
Marshmallows catch fire on an open flame
All my friends get together
Wishing I was there but I'm never
Living in the sunshine oh but dreaming of a place called home
I wanna run wanna run away-ay
I'm dreaming of a place called home
I could try but I'm stuck in today
I'm dreaming of a place that's
3000 miles away
Feels like it's forever
Seems like yesterday
We were running 'round town together
This place, just ain't the same
I miss the stormy weather
I'm not okay
3000 miles away.
I was lost in Wesley's voice, and it brought me back to our date. I couldn't help but smile as they sang. They finished up, leaving me star struck.
"You were the first person to hear the studio version of it. I'm so glad I went through with writing it after showing you," Wesley said.
"Wesley this is the best Christmas present ever," I cheered, giving him a hug. He chuckled and squeezed me tightly. I grunted a little as he pressed against my stomach.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! Did I hurt you?" He panicked.
"I'm fine. I'm just not used to your muscles hugging me so tight," I chuckled. He chuckled a little lightly. He grabbed my hand, and we went outside. We stood in the cold, being silent, for a little bit until I spoke up.
"It means a lot that you showed me that song, Wes," I admitted. He smiled at me and nodded.
"I knew you'd like it. I just couldn't wait to show it to you," he beamed. I smiled up at him and knew what would come next, seeing the way he looked into my eyes. He leaned down and stroked my cheek gently. I could see his breath in the cold air, slowly blowing out as he got closer to me. His soft lips pressed to mine, and our lips moved in sync. At that moment, I knew it was by far the best Christmas ever.
